Your FEAF Dodge is looking good, Jeff! Wanna come do mine? ;)
Incidentally, if it is the 1951 model shown on your signature, you're OK with the OD. After 1954, however, the correct color would have been blue. In 1958, local commanders were authorized to implement camouflage schemes IF they...
Re: Cool Pic's
I'm right here. I don't check this part of the forum much, actually. I get and/or "share" most of my M37 info on "that other forum."
To satisfy those "enquiring minds," the AF became a separate service in August, 1947. They continued to use the Army style of vehicle markings...
Do you have good fuel and air filters? Sounds like you've got crud in the carb. One tiny little flake of rust or dirt in a needle valve will cause the problem you're describing.
RE: Re: M37 in movies and TV
I like the shots of an M37 in The Battle of the Bulge and the one with the invasion stars. DUH!! Don't the movie folks realize that WWII was over by the time the first M37s rolled off the assembly line?
M1075: Your flag is indeed properly displayed. Judging from the size of your vehicle, however, a 3'x5' flag on an 8' pole (like on "my" fire truck) would probably be a better fit. You'd have to fabricate a pretty hefty mount to hold it, though. The ones on "my" fire truck are 1.5" ID black...
...but let's do it properly.
Here's the right way to display the flag on a vehicle. (The '54 Chevy fire truck is the one I drive in parades. It belongs to my 40 & 8 Voiture.)
The guys who would be able to tell you exactly what you need to do are the swamp-buggy racers down there in Louisiana. How about it, you LA guys? Do you know anyone in that particular motor sport who could help him out?
RE: Re: RE: I have
11 deuces!! I've been assigned to military units that would have been very happy to have just half that many! I figure that one deuce could have saved Uncle Sam several thousand bucks during my first tour in Germany. We totally destroyed 3 Ford half-ton pickups and 2...
There's a simple solution to the problem! Take the top off, stow it and the frame in the bed, and fold down the windshield. Then, the "high point" will be the top of the steering wheel. ;)
Hey, Carguy! You messed up the first time around. Spending 3 days getting it running before removing it from his property was a major mistake. You should have towed it, instead. When it wasn't running, it was "worthless." Once it fired up, it became "valuable." Since it hasn't moved since...
Sweet score! You aren't gonna see many of those at the rallies on this side of the pond! I did see a couple of 'em at one of the car shows I attended while stationed in England, but yours is the first back here in the States. Where in the heck did you find it? How did it find its way over...
RE: Re: RE: Not an MV but my "While deployed V
I bought a new 1979 Dodge van when I returned from Germany in July of that year. It was assembled in St. Louis, MO, and was completely made of US parts. Then, I bought another new Dodge van when I came back from England in 1987. The second van...
I like your philosophy as expressed in your signature, OIF Vet. May I take the liberty of correcting the punctuation? It should read "On the sands of regret bleach the bones of countless thousands who, when faced with opportunity, hesitated."
Sorry about that. It's just the English teacher...
