I hate to rain on your parade, but that's what I do most of the time.
Pulling a M105 with a civilian hitch is not always easy. I have pulled several with my F250 and have found that with the trailer lower the ring is not parallel to the road. The ring is so thick on the 105 that as you turn...
I keep a folder next to the "steelsoldiers" web link on my desk top and every time I run across one I want to follow I just right click on the page, hit create short cut, and then when I am done surfing I just drag it or the many to the folder. I had not thought about crashing for a while, I...
I have a M54 listed in the classified but I have now decided to part it out if anyone is interested in the engine. It's a multi-fuel and seems to run good. Turbo too. If anyone wants the engine and it goes, I will be parting out the rest. It's still for sale whole but I think it would make a...
What kind of wheels are one this truck. They don't look like combat wheels. Can you get wheels to mount these tire on for a 5 ton that are not combat rims but are tubeless?

I have noticed several pictures here recently of rear axles on deuces that have been singled out with the inner nuts holding on the tires. So here is my concern, is that OK to do. Remember seeing front cover on Army motors or Supply line that had a WW2 deuce with these on the front. I...
RE: Re: RE: Re: Tire sizes for my deuce????
I have a set of 4 wheels from a dolly that are backspaced an inch or so different from regular deuce rims. I have mounted an 11.00 Michelin XL on one and put it on the front of my truck. Clint's buddy (Joel?) was eye balling them a few months ago...
RE: Tire sizes for my deuce????
In my opinion you're only real option is the 9.00 by 20 with your rims. Anything else is putting something on there that will not fit right. Check out this chart and see what they say will fit on your width rim.

I do think one...
I changed mine with a couple of pipe wrenches. You just have to be careful because a pipe wrench squeezes and you don't want to squeeze the other half in the area you want it to because looser. It's obvious if you look at it close. It's a very simple design that a lot old tractors used when I...
Well, here's the link. It starts off with the wheel spinning in low range, I get in the truck shift to high range 5th gear and 30 mph. That would put the tire at about 60 which is off because the speed-o is for 9.00 tires. I'll try to do the math later. I bet it's close to 64 or 65 mph...
You know what might be an affordable option. Make centers that bolt up to a 6 lug bud wheel hub and have 5 or 6 points that would attach to a dayton wheel. I am thinking even as I write this that this is a bad idea, but who knows. I priced 10" wide dayton wheels new a while back and they...
I had entertained the thought of just using part of the ditch witch wheel and welding it to a regular deuce wheel. After thinking it over I realized that would probably not work and I called ditch witch and the rims where $400 each. That de-railed that train real quick. I would really like...
Just in case any of you are following this thread and have missed the other with lots of modified wheel stuff check this link.

I decided to test the balance of my wheel today so I pulled the truck up against a tree and jacked up the right rear tire and sat it on some wooden blocks. Cranked the truck and got it up to about 27 mph. That should have turned the wheel at about 54 mph. It didn't have much shimmy, but my...
Keep an eye on this thread too. It may end up being a decent alternative.

Well I talked to my mechanic friend yesterday and he told me he used to rebuild such alternators. I am not sure if he meant these literally, but at any rate he said with great confidence that all I need to do is tie the 24 volt wire from the truck to "D", the 12 volt from the 12 volt system to...
I bought 11.00 x 20 radial tubes the other day for less than they have them in the above web site. I don't think the 11.00 x 20 is an uncommon size, at least not here in the rural south where pulp wood trucks roam the streets.
