Good to know he didnt have to raise the cab. Im never a fan of body lifts.
Did he need to swap radiators? The stock radiator is a good unit. I never heard of people with lots of modifications needing to install a larger radiator. I know of a few guys who put big cams in their trucks and...
That will be a nice upgrade in power! I have a soft spot for L10s. I learned to drive commercial trucks on a single axle freightliner with an L10 and 9 speend on my uncles farm back in the day. Its no big cam but she has good power for moving hay and a tractor around.
Looks to me it a...
It will definitely be way too hot. Just look at the 370 marines in a 12 valve. Truck would be hot all the time.
Best bet is to take the stock injectors out and have them opened up to your specs. Most injector shops can hone the nozzle and increase flow.
If you have the part numbers off the marine injectors, a shop should be able to look up the specs.
I personally feel 450hp will be way to much for an over the road motor in a 5 ton. It’s like adding a 100% over at injector to a stock truck. It’s going to be really hot.
Your best bet is to look up the Hemtt manuals. I have searched and there is not that much information on this particular crane from Grove. It is 24 volt, and i think closed center. There are lots of threads on adding these cranes onto other military trucks. I suggest a beefy subframe.
Only time the front rubs, is if I'm at full lock and taxing the front passenger side suspension. And I mean like getting out of a 3 foot ditch or turning into a steep incline. Regular driving and light off road is no problem at full lock, either direction.
You dont need HEMTT rims. I run the stock combat rims with 16r20 XZLs. I take my truck off roading and push it to the flexible limit. Only place it rubbed was on the power steering gear cover and on the underneath of the bed. Both easy fixes and you dont need new rims or lose CTIS.
Thats very sad to hear that. Joe was a great guy and always made sure everyone felt welcomed into the group. He was my point of contact for Rausch and on my first trip, Mike and him helped me out with both of my break downs.
Joe and his family will be in my prayers.
Due to Joe's...
500 miles a day for a 5-6 days is a lot to ask of yourself and a new truck. One minor set back and your schedule is screwed. I do a 250 mile trip (usually 6 to 7 hours due to traffic) a few times a year and Im done for the day. These trucks are not the epitome of driver comfort or speed. I...
I swapped a small hx50 onto my truck and it was too big. The power band on these trucks is small to begin with. Adding a larger turbo alone, will only hurt you. There needs to be additional modifications done to support more air and fuel.
I suggest installing gauges and then adjusting your...
