I don't know about the latest units but the slightly older ones had gauges that were crap! they were inaccurate and for the most part did not work. The military has since the 70's always bought lowest bid and you get what you pay for. If I am replacing I am replacing with better gauges.
Sounds to me like you have a bad battery connection. The most likely one would be the ground to chassis connection. But check and clean all of the battery connections, both ends of each cable. Also check the voltage on each battery separately from positive post to negative post and be sure each...
It would start a deuce in 40 blow zero without any other starting aids! All you would need to do is get the Detroit powering that unit started first.
Chances are that even if you find out who made it you will not get anywhere with them if they are even still in business. They pretty much keep all that info within the system. They may tell you what manual you need to buy but now that you know it is a 400 hz. unit how much do you want to spend...
It is 400 hz, useless for anything except aircraft and certain military comm stuff. The voltage may be right but you need 60 hz, not 400.
Now, with 1000 amps at 28 volts you could arc cut 6" or thicker steel using 1" copper/carbon electrodes.
And last but not least go here and look through these images in hopes of finding one with the data plate that has the info on it that tells you what manual it requires...
AND, That comes back to this.

Can you tell it is hot out today and I really do not feel like going out and getting stuff done in the yard?
This last post may be deleted since it might violate policy due to the Iron planet reference.
But if it does the NSN of the vehicle is NSN 6115-01-617-5288
OK, Solved the illegal link issue(y)
This will get you closer, Look at the second set of numbers and then look at the descriptions of the equipment. The 1730's appear to be aircraft related trailers. The 6115's appear to be generators. Like I said, have a pot of coffee. I have found a lot of off the wall manuals here and I have...
You can try here, type in the NSN number once you find it or the number you gave us. Have a pot of coffee standing by because it may take a while to go through the selections.

You can probably find most of what you need to know here. This statement here in one of the charts is what would worry me in your application.
"The typical field of application for cast iron resistors of the GEW series are short, high-energy impulse loads."...
I hope you left that cover open! pouring hot water on something in freezing weather just guarantees it is going to freeze tighter and much faster soon after you do that. Best thing to do is get it open and then spray it with WD40 to get rid of the water and after that lube the hinges with spray...
I have been following this but since I am not an electrician I have not commented on it but I did notice one thing that caught my eye on the seeders spec sheet, voltage MAX 240. That means it is set up for a MAXIMUM of 240 volts, not set up specifically for only 240 volts. Any electrical...
If you are thinking that you can hook this too your house directly then you cannot unless your house is wired for 3 phase which is highly unlikely. I am not an electrician but I know you cannot connect three phase to single phase.
