From what I have read the flammability of ether is the problem in diesel engines creating too much force through combustion. I already add outboard motor oil to help with lubricity, I need something to give that little boost on cold starts with out the explosion of ether.
My M1008 is hard starting when it is cold, I don't like ether starter fluids even on small engines. But from what I am reading some folks swear by Liquid Wrench Silicone spray saying it will not harm the engine any experiences, I need some type of safe alternative to ether.
It looks like all I needed for the troop seats for my M1008 came in the back of the last 813 I purchased everything except the CLAMPS, is there a reasonably prices source for these?

I won a M1008 a couple of months ago and applied for the SF97 soon after picking it up in Little Rock. It's been weeks so I sent an email, they have had my application on hold due to the VIN not clearing CarFax? The vin they had on all the GL paperwork is wrong. The vin plate on the dash is...
If you ever get to Hooks TX you will see thousands of them in all conditions parked fender to fender on every available spot, just driving around the rebuild areas is remarkable, every part you can imagine crate after crate.
My brother had that idea as well but I will need the heater, I just need to get it apart to see what is leaking, I hope just a loose connection? I also noticed both alternators belts were a little loose, tightened them up now my gen 2 light is on, so I guess I will loosen them up a little to...
Picked her up at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock, two new batteries, checked the fluids and a little gas to prime her and cranked right up. Only real need I notice right off is that one of the base mechanics liked the tires and I ended up with his old set of tires and wheels and no spare...
At least yours had some oil in it! When I picked mine up it had been completely drained, the only fluids in it was in the two dead batteries. All together it cost me $700+ to fill her up. 75 gallons of hydraulic oil will set you back! But it is a great truck to use and soon to restore!
Travo:
I think it was used at Camp Robinson, but it still could be, there is only a quarter size tear in the center of the back seat and the wheels/tires were switched before it was turned in, so who knows? I really didn't pay much attention to the truck while I was there, I only started to...
I like the first one, the flush mounted one, is it a comercial mount or did you build the whole thing. I have a 16 foot car hauler I want to use it to pull, nothing for long hauls just moving my stuff from one storage area to another and short hauls to shows. I have read some of the threads...
Saw a really nice M1008 at Fort Robinson in Little Rock when I was picking up a M101 I had won and realized it was the truck the ARNG yard guy had been driving around the base for years, really nice shape and I need a pickup that was 4x4 and hefty so it looks like more manuals to read!
