Dear Chris & Mangus:
I do believe that Ferro's comments are warranted. There SHOULD be both a military railroad and a Military watercraft forum on here. I state that there were military railroaders and military railroads during the Civil War, long before the first...

Regrettably, Maddawg, Broil is not the temperature needed, "FRY" would be more appropriate. It is to be regretted we no longer hang car thieves like they used to do horse thieves. I am glad the SmarT's jeep is back, but I still regret that the perps in this case...

I knew I guy in Texas had a M113 for his kids to play in (but he had a heck of a collection of other military vehicles on his ranch, too)! Boys, between you, me and the wall, I think somebody's ice cream on here flipped off the cone.... if you know what I mean...

If it were me, I'd rebuild the original carburettor or replace with same if it were beyond repair, but I would get a new silicone rubber rebuild kit as you are about to enter the **** of ethanol. Unimog's that are much newer hate ethanol, so I suppose Chryslers from the...

Quit pulling these guys legs...that 150 tons of locomotive & stone cars on roller bearing trucks, warm, should require between 600 and 900 lbs to pull at worst cases on the level...stopping them once you get them rolling's the problem....I used to pull a...

Doghead, you are one mean moderator tonight. Me? I'd look at it positively...Time to get rid of that junk American diesel and put a good Deutz in it! If he picks one of the air cooled ones (Oh,wait, he's in Wisconsin, the AC diesels will start at -30, but provide no cab...

Deuces are pretty good storm vehicles, Unimogs from the factory are probably better able to take care of themselves in fairly deep water, and DUKW's beat both flat out.... Hope you guys did OK! DH, you do have a point, but you need to do that OMG on the manuals in Munckin...

What barn did you pull that out of...? One of my favorite trucks and it looks like it has all the options. Just be aware that if you have the 100 Amp generator, you will want to watch it as it tends to overload the bearings, particularly on the water...

Thanks M561gamagoat & co for the links. I do believe that they are correct in the article, as Unimog has not been routinely importing NEW U1300L's, as they are not willing to modify the Mercedes Benz diesel to meet US emissions standards and FHTSA standards. Most of the...

Probably runs as well as a Mahindra jeep...both 1950's technology. The guys that are going to make the big bucks in motorbikes are the ones who come up with a reliable, long lived, road worthy diesel! Enfield in India had one, not too reliable, that got about 200 MPG on...

You've got to hand it to the Terminator, when an H-1 Hummer won't do, a U1300L Unimog (new) will. Ahhnold's U1300L was specially modified in Germany to meet current US safety and emissions standards, and at $250,000 it is quite a pickup truck. It just goes to show that...

You gents are very brave, and very, very foolish to try to pull one, much less two stacked M105's with the tow vehicle(s) listed above and by the OP! Without air, you will not have control over the trailer brakes, and without thr proportioning done by the deuce master...

Probably the best way to save your CUCV from rust is to move to western Texas, beyond that you would be well advised to coat the underside with Marine Bituminous Epoxy enamel, such as is used on towboat hulls, otherwise, its a GM it's gonna rust, and bad....2cents

Gents:
You have to admit that designing, affixing, and installing the tools in a standard pioneer tool rack is right up there with Werner Van Braun designing the V-2!:-P The Marines avoided that whole problem on my M422A1 by not equipping it at all with a pioneer rack...

How about connecting it to the Engine Air Filter can through the engine intake connection? At least you'd be getting air cleaned by the filter element. (I mean connect to the actual engine air intake hose, not the normal air compressor connection on the can, as that air is...

The world war II GMC's did their parts for the war effort, but the M135/211 and more importantly the M35 Series trucks were indeed designed to overcome the off road and maintenance shortcomings of the WWII trucks. One wonders how many CCKW's and related trucks were either...

Time to do the CONDECO conversion..... They built a trial deuce back in the 60's with diesel electric drive, with motors in all the hubs, now hitch it to a battery pack and you have a 12+ ton Prius....American built and designed!:deadhorse:

Note to MB owners. Now might be the time to develop the variations on the M35A2 hardened "Saigon" Parking brake chain through the wheel, also lock the gear shift and parking brake handles if possible with padlocks and hardened chains. If the steering wheel had been chained...

Looks like Minnesota is starting to take notes from Wisconsin! I will say that the Texans would have treated you better, and so far here in Illinois the Unimog has not raised any hackles, but then the deuce had to get sold at a huge loss in Texas as I could not...
