    Steering question...

I guess I don't know what you are trying to describe here. Can you pm me a phone number and I will try to give you a call tomorrow evening. If the tie rods are disconnected the steering box will turn beyond the point it would normally hit the steering stops. This will not cause damage as long as...

How are the axle u-joints out at the wheels? It is sounding like you have a binding u-joint or a binding ball joint. Rick

    2600mile recovery :)

If you have to pull that thermostat housing to fix the leak replace the stat while you are there. Cheap insurance, otherwise it will stick wide open on the coldest day of the winter.

    Government Liquidation ***BUYER BEWARE***

Jimmy, we all feel your pain. There is probably not a single person on this forum that has dealt with G/L that has not been burnt. We know all too well about their customer service. It is not that way at all locations though. I have had very good service at several locations. Wait until you find...

    Government Liquidation ***BUYER BEWARE***

That is why I seldom if ever buy from Ebay. If I ever do I am coming to you first for a buying lesson!

    Government Liquidation ***BUYER BEWARE***

Angus, I checked, You had better raise your prices! Even used are in the 70.00 and up range. Does not mean they are all selling at that price but since they are ALL starting there I would say they must be selling some. Rick

    New Format for forums

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and then go to the left and you will see a contrast setting. Go for higher contrast. If that is what you are now on then it must be a computer issue. My background is dark green, almost black and the printing is white. Rick

What is your temp gauge reading? If normal you might need a reverse flush on the heater core. Otherwise you might need a thermostat. Definitely want to have a good working thermostat in those temps or you will end up with milkshake for oil. Rick

MEP 005a Low oil pressure light on unit still running?

I was going to say that I have used clear lacquer paint in the past but that was for my own stuff and did not want to volunteer info that might not be proper. I did find some info on conformal coatings just doing a search for "circuit board spray"...

MEP 005a Low oil pressure light on unit still running?

If it is not out in the open I will have to wait until I can catch one of the professors. You might find something in Radio Shack or one of the online electronics stores. I should be able to catch one of them in, it is finals time. 3,000 stressed out students running around in a daze.

MEP 005a Low oil pressure light on unit still running?

I saw some stuff in the electronics lab at the college I work at for spraying on those boards to seal them, I will send myself an e-mail to check it out on Monday and report the name of it. Sounds like if you can just reseal the board it would solve the problem. Rick

Found pieces of metal in tansfercase, it's a shame because i was going to sell it

I am sure the bolts will be fine. Look at your old case and see if the bolt holes go through to the inside of the case. If they do you may experience some oil weeping at the bolts. The studs were so hard to get out because they were locktited in. Most likely if you look at the ones that came out...

Found pieces of metal in tansfercase, it's a shame because i was going to sell it

Well I am not a deuce owner so I can't help with the specifics but weren't the nuts you took off of the case you took out fine thread? Actually, wouldn't you have been transferring the studs from the old to the new? Then in that case you would use the same nuts that held it together. You can...

Found pieces of metal in tansfercase, it's a shame because i was going to sell it

That is a blank .223 round and the nitrogen cylinder looks like it was for a decon canister. To take out studs you just thread one nut down on the stud about a full nut past the beginning of the threads and then thread another nut on right down to the first. Take two wrenches and tighten the two...

    Steering question...

If you have not already done so take a gander over on the g838.org site. It is a M-151 only site and there is a lot of information there. There is a member there, Mr. Recovery, who is from Fla. and always seems to come up with needed parts. He may be able to help you out. You could also try Red...

    Steering question...

OK, You have to adjust it to spec while it is in the air. You want to tighten it until you just start to feel resistance and then back it off just a hair. You want to be able to turn right to left through center without feeling a bind at center. You can tighten it a little and try that test...

injection pump timing on mep 003a

I can't give you any advice on the timing but I can tell you that you might want to edit out the Z word and the language even though it is in hash marks. Either one will get a post deleted and a stern warning from the mods, especially as a new member. Dig around in this forum some since there...
