    Steering question...

Someone adjusted the box to tight. The adjustment should be made while jacked up and at the center point of the travel. You may also have alignment issues in addition to that. Too much caster angle will cause the non centering and falling off to the side.

Trying to hang in here on new updates

OK then, I am trying to stay neutral in all of this but I would like to make an observation. At this point we have the mods fighting with the admins on the open forum. We have a whole bunch of disgruntled members voicing hundreds of dissenting opinions. This is really headed down hill. you guys...

    Bobbed Deuce axle spring perches

Welding cast to mild even with preheat can be dicey if using standard rods. Look into a product called Certainium. http://www.certaniumgroup.com/en/products/

Trying to hang in here on new updates

ROTFLMAO!!! There ARE a few notable names I have not seen on here since the upgrade. I refer back to my post #29, Take it easy guys. You will never make everyone happy. Now, I have to take my 225 lb. 6'3" butt back and thank all the mods.rofl

Trying to hang in here on new updates

You know, I look at it this way, I do not really like they "NEW" site and I do not spend as much time here as a result. BUT, You guys need to keep something in mind, Chris could just say the he** with it and shut it down altogether and then what will you do. Complain about that? To whom? On what...

Have you checked for a cracked frame around the steering box mounts? Rick

    Rules

I guess I am in the minority, not only would I not even think of using a political avatar (I don't even have an avatar) I hate politics and politicians. Therefore I ignore anything political. No reminding needed at all.

    Rules

It's a shame because I completely overlooked the donation drive because the brain blocks out anything that says politics. I would never have seen it if we were not discussing it. That means many others that are not part of this conversation are never reading the fund drive stuff. Thanks for...

    Rules

Is the upgrade complaint page still open? That is actually my complaint. Things are always moving. I loved the new posts thing but it is confusing, sometimes there are three pages going back a couple days and other times there are 10 posts only going back an hour. I KNOW there are more new posts...

I would love to eliminate that dang yellow political banner! THAT is irritating. It is in the rules so why flaunt it all the time. Rick

MEP -002A Fuel Pump Needed, or not?

I think you will find the #2 is already winterized in the northern states. Most oil tanks are outside so it has to be free flowing down to any expected low temps. And I have to agree with the elevated tanks. Here on the east coast they are very strict (anal!) about oil tanks. You can't have them...

Found pieces of metal in tansfercase, it's a shame because i was going to sell it

Any plumber and most mechanics would have the tap. The mechanics would use it to do just that, clean up heater fitting holes and such. Put some grease on the tap and that will grab any rust. You are not looking to take off any metal, just run it in till it gets good and snug and you are done. Rick

MEP-003 vs MEP-004 House backup power

Once you get up in the standby gen-set range they are just about all American made and they are all high quality. Do not believe that EVERYTHING that the military has is either high quality NOR American made. Once you get into the 70's era and above they were into budget cuts and low bid...

MEP-003 vs MEP-004 House backup power

The one main thing you need to consider is price over time. Yes, green stuff is fun...............................and noisy, thirsty, hard and expensive to find parts for. If you need something long term, and it sounds like you do, then a permanent standby running on natural gas is the way to...

Found pieces of metal in tansfercase, it's a shame because i was going to sell it

There are not many people that can successfully take a picture of the inside of a unit through a small hole! Well done, by the way, get a pipe tap and clean the rust out of those threads or you may have a weeping plug. Rick

    This thing won't warm up!

I am not at my parts list, can't they cross yours over to a Stant? Make sure it is a 180. I will check my list a little later and get you some more numbers. Or you can go to the g838.org site and look at the wiki. There is a cross reference list in there for civie parts.

MEP-003 vs MEP-004 House backup power

I would be careful running at that kind of load (110%) too much. It IS a 30 year old generator with the same age wiring. I love your "Needs". I need my well pump, a couple lights and the fridge. Period.

MEP -002A Fuel Pump Needed, or not?

Looking at Incredilion's sig I can see he would have no issues with this but for you guy's considering a new setup, keep in mind you have to be able to fill that elevated tank.;) Rick

    Damaged CUCV Rebuild

Unless you are an experienced bodyman you want to farm that roof job out. Ask them where they want you to cut the donor off. You have no room for error on a roof replacement. Rick
