I have run 255/85's on at least 3 trucks going back 20 years and never rubbed a drag link or had a binding incident. Sounds like your front springs are too soft for the weight of the snowplow. I always added an extra leaf to the front of my square body GM plow trucks.

395/85 XML'x on MLVW wheels.

I have used 398/85 XML's for years on a deuce with no issues. I have used 1100R20 XZL's for many years without issue also. Pic of dualled 1100's shown with at least 10 ton in box.

I have a couple 6 ton stands for some work. Some custom made ones for other, (easy way to install air assist!).

I run 255/85-16's on a couple trucks. No clearance problems.

This trailer gets even lower when loading as the air is dumped from the trailer suspension.

The trailer is 50' with a 40' deck.

Depending on what you plan to use the trailer for, it for should be figured in as to the repair/modifications if any of this trailer. If you want an air brake trailer consider swapping axles and maybe suspension also. Although a step deck unit they are still a fairly tall trailer. A few pics to...
