I think when she posted 'the sun makes me sick' that was code for something... I just don't know what. :D
I just want to chime in and completely disagree with the private seller recommendations people make.
Private sellers give you the same warranty as GL... NONE. The only benefit (and its a...
Most of the engine goo's were putting teflon in their mix. That's one reason they got sued when engines started going buh-bye.
And some math a 3MPG increase (from 15 to 18) is a 20% MPG increase. I'm gonna say you have other issues besides oil, or did the math wrong.
If that were the case...
I think you are mixing acquisition costs and maintenance costs (a $20 oil analysis could have saved you $100+ in oil) Did you test the antifreeze before changing it? Why not just add a 'revitalize' additive?
What are 'lot removal fees' when you are hauling (apparently) the stuff home?
Yes...
How many people are getting IFTA fines?
A PA Non-IFTA sticker is $5 and paperwork is only due once a year (you still gotta show fuel /mileage) but the only other option is an IFTA sticker, quarterly (or monthly, I forget) filings but you get to go to all 50 states without the $50 (RIP OFF!)...
" I'd like to see some more conclusive tests myself."
Yeah, you think the manufacturer would supply an endless stream of peer reviewed studies to back their claims.
I completely agree that synthetic oil is better than dino oil. I do question all the 'testimonials' of 30%+ MPG gains and all...
Teflon is COMPLETELY USELESS in oil. Teflon is not a lubricant.... and unless you get the part you want the Teflon to adhere to up to about 700F it will not bond to it. And when it does, its pretty easy to chip off.
Synthetic oil is not 'cleaner' than dino oil. The additives (detergents)...
I submitted for the SF-97 late Feb. The date on the FL Title is actually March 2nd, but I didn't get it in the mail till yesterday.
I didn't get any notice or have to sign anything other than the delivery notice.
I did have a quick online chat with GL around March 15th to ask where I was in...
So I but a truck in PA.
SF-97 is from Egland AFB, Florida... and its a FL title!
PLUS there is a goberment form about a Government title transfer.
Oh well... at least I have a title... should make getting a PA title that much easier.
You should be able to contact you Dept of Revenue and get a form for the sales/use tax refund if you have to pay it again.
You can only legally be charged sales tax once on a purchase. Since its only sold to you ONCE.
Sounds like you need to shop around for another DMV office.
The pics are very dark.. but I didn't see the tell tale flange in the corner.
As for the tie downs do you have any specific into regarding what beds had what type (stamped/wire)?
My composite bed has wire loop, my wooden be has stamped. My 1/4 ton trailer and ben hur also have stamped.
As...
On e-bay there is a 7/45 CCKW for sale. Brent Mullins in TX is selling it (my guess). Its got some wrong parts, but if the bed it correct, that would have a bolted steel bed... maybe call Mullins and ask for some pics for reference?
I was 60 days from EUC submission and opened a ticket. Got an e-mail that basically said that another dept was waiting yet another dept (no specifics). I politely e-mailed back if they could check specifically what was the second dept waiting on. The next week (about 4 business days) I got...
Any tips for a drain plug that is rusted in place? The truck has sat for a few days, but when I tried to get to the drain plugs no go.... I may try heat next, because PB Blaster didn't do squat.
Use a good GL-5/MT-1 (that's the actual label).
Most, if not all gear lubes are 'yellow metal' safe. The 80/90 wt oils don't get hot enough to make the acids (combination of water, sulfur and heat). About 20-30 years ago this was a problem, not any more.
The GL-5 spec does have a test for...
Some say go thicker, some say go thinner, some go with mystery goo. I just noted that it was one of the 'cures' I had heard for noisy gears.
My jeeps transfer case wined quite a bit, but after replacing some very worn parts (IM shaft/bearings, a shift fork and two output shaft bearings) its...
I'm just really good at remembering things. I read those Sunderlan articles and some Army Motors (the originals) and remembered that there was a bolted together steel body.
The Sunderlan articles, while good, suffer from the most common error of 'user submitted' research. They fail to cite...
I've been personally involved in 3 purchases and have to say that I have had NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. At 60 days I submitted a ticket to DLA and go my EUC a week later. I don't consider that a GL problem.. it was clearly a DLA thing. And was promptly addressed.. I got my EUC the next week...
The whine is a result of the gears meshing. Certain types of gears simply make more noise. Spur gears are typically the noisiest. Helical are quiet. Some say the changing the lube viscosity or to a synthetic oil can help.
My M35 whines pretty good in 5th above 50mph. My 42GPW whines all...
If you have the time and a press brake, a guy actually MADE his G506 bed from scratch.
tm9-801.com • View topic - I built my own cargo bed
I remember a guy posted on g503 that he made a wooden bed, but it cost him $10,000 (!) or some ridiculously high number.
I have a wooden bed and composite...
