I find it funny that you could not google it yourself... you would rather 'challenge' me than do any sort of basic research.
Additionally, not sure if I'm more offended by your lack of trust in my information (would I make it up?) or that you could not spend 30 seconds to type in 'cckw late...
Actually, the 'Late War' beds were all steel, but bolted, not welded together.
From start to finish:
All steel, welded <- Early
All Wooden <-early/Mid
Composite <-Mid/Late
All Steel, bolted <- Late
The easiest 'Tell' for a Chevy bed is that there is a very pronounced ledge that extends way...
I don' think you really researched synthetic oil... you need to look at synthetic oil vs additive packages.
As you stated its an ADDITIVE. Not all synthetic oils will have it, and you can get seal conditioners in dino oil and as goo you add in.
Its not a SPECIFIC synthetic oil property...
Synthetic oil will do nothing for a seal. If anything, synthetics will seep/weep a little more because they are generally thinner (aka low viscosity).
I completely agree with extended change intervals... synthetics use a much better base stock that random oil from the ground. But as with...
You never *have* to use factory lubes. There was a huge lawsuit in the 70-80s about this and no auto manufacturer can demand that you use THEIR product.. only one that meets THEIR specs.
I find it HI-LARIOUS that people will research the heck out of a computer, a chain saw, a blu-ray player, a...
You think AMSOIL/LUCAS would have a detailed and concise technical report about the wear reducing properties of their product. I mean, that IS the selling point.
Yet I have not see, nor heard of a one. Their web site has jibberish about 'feels faster' and 'best customer support'. What?
If...
It may or may not hurt.. but for the added expense I don't see a benefit that has been proven other than by the anecdotal evidence posted on the interwebz.
Read some of the AMSOIL Testimonials for a good laugh. People who maintain their vehicles actually had them last longer! NO WAY...
I completely agree that a well maintained engine will last.
You seem to insist that the 'jiffy lube' 3000 mile oil change is the key.
If that were the case then every motor would last 300k+ miles at 3k oil change intervals. We both know that is not the case.
If I change my oil every 1500...
If an engine is getting regular oil changes that means its getting MAINTAINED. Most modern car engine manufacturer will state that that oil change interval is less than 5k, only in 'severe duty' do you get the 3k number.. and they never define 'severe duty' precisely.
Ask any Fleet operator...
Thanks all,
Was hoping for a NAPA part or quick fix.
A $5 gasket becomes $15+ with shipping. :(
I will take the old gasket out and look at the brass washer.
Hello all.
The gas cap on my deuce is very lose. I was thinking its time to replace the gasket. Found a post on SS, but not one replied.
Don't want to spend the $$ on a new gas cap... anyone have a source for the gasket?
It very well could be a CCKW-353 FRAME but not the cab.
BUT:
The gas cap/filler is exactly where a Chevy one should be.
There is no CCKW fuel tank
Its all fun and games to try and decipher what it is from a poor quality photo from one angle.
But even if it IS G506 or G508, its NOT what...
Having a critical eye when looking at ads that are posted by people with no real idea what they have is the key to separating the wheat from the chaff.
Price is way to high. This is a parts truck. $1500 TOPS and even that would depend on the engine bay condition, cab condition, brakes and how...
Where exactly is the third axle? I see two tires on each side. That would be 4x4. A 6x6 is 3 axles (I own a CCKW and an M35.. so I'm pretty sure that's how it works).
Also, the bed is wrong. There are not enough stake pockets for a Chevy OR a CCKW. I only see three. A G506/G508 had 5...
No, its a G506 Chevy 4x4.
CCKWs and Chevy closed cabs shared A LOT of sheet metal.
The give away is the fuel filler and gas cap right behind the cab.
As for as 'original' or 'rare'.. buy the truck, not the story. Originality is in the details like the engine, gas tank, motor, etc etc etc...
All you need is one uppity cop to ruin your day.
In most states having a weapon in a car (while not going to/from the range, gunshop or used in work) requires a concealed carry permit. In PA you do. Unless the firearm is out of reach, locked up and the bullets away/out of the gun and for the...
The real reason is that A LOT of people jump into MVs all doe eyed... they get a truck and quickly get bitten by the fact that they are not 'consumer' level vehicles that have been made as 'hands off' as possible.
Other than gas you have little else to do to a modern car till it breaks down in...
The vast majority of these 'free' pdf apps are just front ends for pdftk or ghostprint or imagemagick.
One thing about all these pdf tools is that they obey the security settings of the document. So you could be locked out of printing, or saving pages depending on the authors settings.
There...
You could not get a significant temp differential to actually move the oil via this method. You would still need to pump it to the heat coil. I could see this working to reduce viscosity, but not to actually move oil.
Picked up a deuce and the fold down troop seats are cut. They stop a few inches forward of the 2nd bow on both sides. The seat back is not cut, just the seat.
Any idea why this cut was made? Load/unload cargo? A big honking tool box?
Any pics of M35s with this mod?
Thanks
