MVs? HA! Try tree's, fences, or the worst, landscaping.
I had to get county to sign off on my garage slab because the the borough permit listed that I was grading a 40x30 section. They saw that and required me to get a drainage survey. I got out a piece of paper and did the math to get sq...
Has anyone gotten the 'filter kit' (all but the air) from clintdigger97 on e-bay?
Price seems OK ($55 for the filters w/$15 SH).
Is that an OK price or should I look local? I read a few napa/filter threads and have the numbers.
Is there a cheaper fuel/oil filter route?
I have one small corner of my yard that would be considered 'untidey'.
But since we have no local code officer (only county) I'm sure there have been complaints.. I was told that my name came up at a few borough meetings.... but evidently nothing came of it.
Later on I found out who it was...
I can only speak for GPW and CCKWs but reverse typically goes through a shafted gear (not synchro'd) to get it to reverse (even number of gears reverses the rotation of a shaft).
As for chains/straps breaking what about the guy in the bobcat? A driver is about 8 feet in back and 6 feet above...
I would think that reverse gives you such a low gear ratio that the torque available is much more 'useable' than slipping a clutch in first.
Also, a strap around the front frame horn seems like its much stronger than a pintal hitch. Seeing that the pintal is in the middle of a somewhat...
Yes, the CCKW does have an ammeter and if it breaks it will not allow the truck to start (its wired in series with the starter and battery as part of the generator circuit) but you could simply short them together and be back in business.
I have a SS member that has an air gauge.. so I should...
One reason I didn't buy from a private seller (or flipper). You paid more than what a GL truck would cost plus you STILL have to service it, and STILL have to haul it.
Good luck with your truck.
Of course if you have any doubts then tow/haul it.
I've driven my CCKW (think M35 without the diesel engine, and crappier brakes) so I have a few miles under my belt in a very similar vehicle.
I don't think that CCKWs/M35s are horrible to drive. I have been in lifted passenger type trucks...
No, you do not want to drive with a leaking cylinder. Thats why you PLUG THE LEAK. I have several TMs and even Army Motors articles.. not the MVPA rubbish, the real one that list 'field expedient' repairs.
Its simple hydraulics, not magic.
If it was on a steer wheel then I would cap it so...
I think most of this is (as usual) made more difficult by each State adopting the *minimum* IFTA requirements, then adding State specific limits.
I found these posts (there is a club that restores antique tractor trailers:
American Truck Historical Society
And they seem to have the same...
Cap the line. You still have 5 other hubs with working brakes. Find a junction block and put in a plug.
My level of knowledge (or I dare say 'risk') may be higher than some.
Nothing listed here is a deal breaker. You need a proper license no matter what. You need proper insurance no matter what. You need to PM the truck no matter what.
Why throw in a several $100 hauling charge? Unless the deal was to good to pass up drive it. Make sure its safe, first.
You should also read the IFTA application:
http://www.flhsmv.gov/dmv/forms/bmcs/85008.pdf
Lots of Motor Carrier info, business name, EIN etc etc .
Not what you need for a POV
Sorry, have to disagree with you on that one.
We are not disagreeing. If an M818 is used, it IS a tractor by design and would need the CDL. But a 5ton with a cargo bed (no fifth wheel) you are clearly in the:
Drivers who operate straight trucks (single units) that are exclusively transporting...
I have a 66 M35 waiting for me with less than 100 hours and 35k miles, but I just noticed that it's missing a gauge. The one in the bottom right corner.
Depending on where I look (TM, picture of other M35s), its either a ammeter (battery charge) or air pressure gauge.
Anyway to know for sure...
No, the problem is that a CEO will make MILLIONS of dollars a year, add nothing to the value of the part, or even have a vague idea HOW to make the part. But stockholders require a board, the Board needs a CEO, and they ALL get paid for doing pretty much NOTHING.
How much do you think it takes...
I'm glad this didn't devolve into a China bashing thread. China has some good stuff now, unlike 20 years ago. Yes, they still sell junk THAT AMERICAN COMPANIES BUY but of all the 'junk' chinese stuff I have bought none of them ever claimed to meed any standard.
I do recall the FAA issue...
