I like mine. Although these days I drive the M35 more. You can run as tall as a 34" tire on the 1008 stock wheels without modifications and that helps the top end speed. Most 35's and some 36" with front fender trimming.
Cummins engines were available in GM light trucks from the dealer back in the middle 80's. You ordered it from the dealer, truck was built and then sent to Cummins for the refit. GM warranted the truck and Cummins the engine.
Canada runs the 8.2L Detroit,(3800 red line I hear), and Allison MT-643 transmissions in ther deuce's. Maybe someone from north of the border will chime in as to this combination's performance.
That's an interesting heater installation.
My M35 showed nearly 62k on it when I bought it. It was repowerd in 1987 and I have no idea how many miles on the engine. It runs like a champ!
I know guys that have done this on their bikes. A local guy won the 2001 Iron Butt and included Prudoe Bay in the 3rd leg of the event.
Might be some help here.
Dalton Highway, otherwise known as the Haul Road
Yes, I've stopped up there before. I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't stop this trip. I will be by there soon and hope to have more time to linger there. I also stopped this trip in Eldred at the WW II Museum.
Recently returned from a trip north of the border. On my way back I spotted these trucks. The first was near Bolivar, NY on highway 417,and was rusty. The other 2 trucks were on the corner of 59/46 in Smethport, PA.
