M101A3 Trailer Camp Shelby, MS to San Antonio, TX

I hate to tell you this, but the cargo box on that trailer doesn't look like an A3 version. The tires stick put too far from the fenders. Also, in the picture posted, the wheels don't appear to have the lugs to bolt the wheels together like the Humvee wheels do. I wish I could lend a hand...

    Painting Near Houston

Your first premise was to have someone show you how to paint CARC, and then in your next post you want them to not just show you how to spray CARC but how to spraypaint. Most shops won't entertain teaching a newbie how to paint, much less someone that wants to do some of the work to save a...

What is a HEMTT really worth?

HEMTT brochure for the A3 lists disc brakes as the only brake offered and the un-named 470 hp diesel engine. Also of note is that the A3 uses the ProPulse® diesel-electric drive system as Oshkosh calls it. This version turns into a 100Kw generator for clean field supplied electric. The...

What is a HEMTT really worth?

I find the $379K price tag a little low when it comes to the cost of a new HEMTT. On road heavy duty wreckers routinely cost over $300K, so I’m somewhat surprised that a HEMTT wrecker is only $379K. Would anyone know of a reason why the HEMTT A3 uses disc brakes while the larger higher...

    Fifth wheel pins

The military uses a standard pin for most tractors, 2 1/2" I seem to recall and the heavy equipment tractors use a 3" version.

    Concrete

I've got a friend that has worked in the business for over 30 years building commercial parking garages and road surfaces. When I saw this post pop up I called Nick and asked, “Nick, how thick of concrete do I need to support a 20,00 vehicle in a residential garage?” Nick said that 4000 psi...

Don't need no STINKING stump grinder

Looks like you are going to test the TSA guys on your next trip thru the airport. Hopefully they won't have to do the caviity search on ya. Looks like the young lady setting in the operators seat is cold. For your sake I hope she has warmed up a bit. My dumb arse nephew News Years Eve...

    Non-Skid finish on body parts

The material you are asking about is called "Walkway Coating". The older version was Mil-W-5044 and was alkyd enamel, which was over coated with enamel paint. The newer version is A-A-59166 and is a urethane-based product. There are a couple of different type classes available. If you want...

    Flushing Hydraulics

I agree with using automatic transmission fluid for the flushing of your system. You can use a lawn sprayer (the same type used for brake pressure bleeding) filled with ATF to power flush the lines.

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Chris, my sister’s ex-boy friend had a 46' trawler with a single diesel engine that got a tank full of spaghetti algae when he fueled up in Norfolk heading to Cape Hatteras. He got towed back into Norfolk to the marina where he had purchased the fuel. He dispensed fuel right from the pump into...

    Replacement winch cable

Doghead, man you are really being a killjoy with all this negativity:razz:. Bad mouthing Tractor Supply is not a good thing. Just because a lot of their stuff is made in China is no reason to be down on them. If you need winch cable, just stop at your local heavy wrecker company and ask them...

    Gun Truck armor info...

If you use 22 gauge steel sheet it can be formed using a aluminum sheet metal brake. You can wrap 3/8" plywood to make it look as if the metal was a solid sheet.

    neutralizing muriatic acid

I vote none of the above. Remove the parts from the acid bath then immerse them into either magnesium or zinc phosphate solution. Once they stop fizzing, rinse in water, the oil them down. No more rust and a good protective coating.

    15 minute rule - flustrating

Quite possible that the market for MV's is a whole lot smaller than ebay items. They are the rules of this site, so if I want to post here I have to obey the rules or find another place to play.

    15 minute rule - flustrating

Their game, their rules. If I have a proxy bid with Ebay and som eelse bids against me, they have to trumph my bid, not me trumphing theirs. example, I have a $100 proxy. Starting bid is $20, so $20 is what shows. Someone comes along and bids $30, the bid amount shows $30, as my proxy was...

    My version of rear exhaust

Too close to the tail light. You'll find that the light will be covered with diesel soot in no time. Any possibility of turning the pipe toward the ground and lengthening it a bit?
