I have seen 3 - 1 tons with the dealer installed Cummins. In the later 80's I had a GMC General with a Cummins and had seen these trucks while getting mine serviced at the Cummins Shop. One was a pickup and the other 2 had service bodies on them. I didn't think much about them at the time. Now I...
Cummins is no stranger to GM light duty trucks. The Cummins 4 and 6 "B Series" were available in some GM 2wd pickups and P vans before Dodge even had them. In the middle 80's you could go into a GM dealership and order one direct. The truck would be built at GM and then sent to the Cummins...
The speedo/odometers in MV's are often inaccurate. When I'm running 55 mph Garmin gps indicated in my M1008, the speedo reads 66mph. Big disparity in distance traveled also. I'm sure if more owners checked the accuracy of their equipment there would be some surprises. That said, I wish I could...
I ordered a set of 050 and 070's last Friday and even though Monday was a postal holiday I still received them Tuesday. Great service from this vendor!
For more than 25 years I have been running 32/11.50-15 and 33/12.50-15 tires on a pair of GM K 10's. On the pickup, which for most of the time it is unladen, I run 35 front and 31 rear. This gave a good ride and even tread wear. If you run around empty most of the time, over- inflation of the...
Re: CUCV dually!
I heard the one in Columbus, Oh. last week went for $2950. The truck advertised in "heaven" shows up as having a 208 in it,($15k). I've bought 4 new civilian K30 dually pickups over the years. Two had 203 cases and the others have 205's. Never a problem with any transfercases...
The transmission for a 2.8, 3.1, and 3.4 V6's will NOT bolt up to a Chevy engine. There was a 3.3 Chevy 90 degree V6 that had the V8 pattern. I believe there are 3 GM tranny cases of this vintage. The Chevy pattern, the Buick/Cadillac/Olds/Pontiac pattern, and the dual pattern. These dual...
Old pics!
Back in 97 while on a cycle trip I stopped at a small airfield in Beaver Falls, PA. They were having an air show with many interesting planes. I ventured to one of the hangars that had a partially opened door and stumbled upon this beauty! It was there having some repairs done.
At the time these CUCV pickups were made the standard civilian K30 was rated at 9200 for the SRW models. This did not include the optional Z76 Commercial Chassis Equipment which consisted of F58 HD front stabilizer bar, rear stabilizer & G60 rear main & auxillary springs. I think the Z81, and...
For tire comparison I will use a BFG Mud-Terrain for example.
LT 245/75R16 30.7" - 677 revolutions per mile at 45mph.
LT 235/85R16 32.0" - 650
LT 255/85R16 33.3" - 625
LT 285/75R16 33.1" - 628
LT 315/75R16 34.8" -...
I would think you could run the 33.3" tall 255/85-16's like I have on my M1008. I have no problems with clearance. The shop body on your 1031 should have enough room for them also. Others here might have other tire option choices. The aircraft is a C45.
