That is a Marine Corps 5 ton bed used on both 900 and 800 series trucks. The Marines switched all of thier 5 tons to this type of bed in order to put ISO type containers on them because of thier unique latching type system. I've been in the Marines for 12 yrs and I believe it is a Marine...
The "locals" who stayed behind in the bad parts of town. My 5 ton tractor did not get stuck. While pulling a police dept's M35 out that got swamped in high water because of stupidity, my 5 ton's fuel tank was being filled with water because of the lack of the rubber gasket. It stalled out...
It's especially nice when the people you are trying to rescue demand that you give up your truck, like they tried to do to me here in New Orleans. By the way, make damn sure the fuel tank cap has the rubber seal on it and its a snug fit. Otherwise you might find yourself in a middle of a...
Gents,
Took a trip to the GL site at Pineville, LA. If you are thinking about bidding on these trucks in the next auction, BEWARE. All of the trucks listed with the exception of the dump truck where underwater. All had water in the crankcases, severe electrical corrosion, and rust blistering...
I've bled brakes before, but is there a proper way to bleed brakes for the M35. I am ashamed I don't know this and the TMs that I have looked in does not give any details. Does the brake booster need to be bled or does it even get bled? I know this must of been covered before so I apologize...
Gents,
In case anyone is bidding on the 5 ton in Pineville, LA on GL, It was completey underwater for a least a week during Hurricane Katrina. GL was been doing a piss poor job at letting bidders know of submerged water damage trucks from the hurricane. You can even see the water level...
I dont know if this subject has already been discussed, but does anyone know of a kit or conversion package to change an 800 series 5 ton to air brakes? Is it simple or not worth it? I tried several times to buy wrecked 900 series trucks to just swap them, but even they go pretty expensive.
I am new to this board even though I've been collecting military vehicles for about 10 yrs now. I should of been looking at this board yrs ago. by the way, anyone has a diamong T cab near the New Orleans area that they are looking to part with?
I am suprised no one has mentioned the 70's asn 80' s post Vietnam 4 color camo pattern. If you ask me, that was the best color scheme of all -- desert, jungle, or woodland 4 color pattern--- they all looked good.
