    MEP-802a “non runner”

Howdy, I would start with just water in the radiator. Get it running, and then maybe look over the oil for another drain and fill. Start here. 2nd post has quick links to stuff. 3rd post has links to TM here. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-802a-mep-803a-filters-and-parts.186068/

    803A Hard to start

Howdy, The fuel pump tick sound doesn't sound like it has gotten full. Charge the batteries. Turn to prime and let it sit priming for a long time. Maybe 3 minutes or more. Have you change any of the fuel filters?

    MEP 803A Sub Tank

Howdy, Browse thru the forums. A 55 gallon drum works good. With you being in Miami. Look over the various ways for moisture collection. A sealed drum with expansion, and filters, with desiccant breather. https://diesel-fuels.com/desiccant-fuel-tank-vent-breathers/...

    MEP-802a “non runner”

Howdy, OK, then you have the right height receiver setup. You know the length of the safety chains. You know about the parking brakes. You know about the 24v bulbs. You know about the axle bearings. (temp) Tires = side stencil marking says 18 psi? You have run-flats in the tires. Either way, the...

    MEP-802a “non runner”

Howdy, OK, it sounds like we do not have the full picture here. Have you pulled a military trailer with your truck? It sounds like you have. If that is the case, then yes, the chains will be the same as the M1102 you reference. So that also means you have a pintle hitch, and know about the...

Howdy, Go back to the thread, and go to the 2nd post. Click on the quick link (different colored font) and it will take you to the PDF file. Open it to page 29 and it will tell you. Also at the end of the sentence, I have another quick link to the thread about what the fuse mod is and there are...

    Diesel fuel degradation

Howdy, It really depends on how bad the algae is... You might be better off transferring to another container and polishing first. The biocides are great, but if the fuel itself is to far gone, you need to clean it up some even for the chemicals to work.

    Generator harmonics

Howdy, NOT all generator are alike. This is a Military MEP generator. A commercial permanent generator supplier is going by what he sells. Most do not have a simple N-G bonding strap like a MEP. Why? Those are meant to be permanently mounted, and the generator frame is meant to be grounded...

    Generator harmonics

Howdy, By the electrical gods wisdom, you do not want 2 points of ground. The generator expert might not have known exactly what a MEP generator is. You run 4 wires to the house to make 4 connections. I am sure your house service panel has more than 1 ground rod in the ground. So consider that...

MEP-803A - Black smoke under load

What is a good mobile set up for using my MEP 803A

Howdy, First, because you want to be mobile, and always rolling up and putting it away, and then putting it out again, use proper heavy duty cord. The W type cord is preferred. A good 6 AWG 4C Type W Portable Power Cable. You will want a spider box to do all this properly. Stay with your...

    803A Hard to start

Howdy, The MEP-802A/803A will have a hollow sound while priming, you will hear the sound change to a fuller sound when primed. Starting procedure Turn to prime, wait... wait... Turn to start, hold it on start, you are waiting for the oil pressure rise, which also flashes the exciter, oil...

MEP-803A - Black smoke under load

Howdy, https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-8xx-wet-stack-info.154238/ Wet stacking hurts the over all operation. This is why it is important to run your generator loaded to clean this issue up. If it is not cleaned up, it will keep building and clogged the exhaust and muffler. This is...

    How to size a ATS

Howdy, Not gonna happen. You will need a sub-panel setup for using a ATS. There is no way by code for any other way. Anything behind the ATS has to be fully supported by the generator. ATS = Automatic Transfer Switch. Even if you have all gas appliance's, and have city water and sewer, You...

    WIX oil filter troubles

Howdy, In today's world.... I wonder if it's a real WIX filter, or a grey market import. NAPA is down the road from me. So I only have true experience with the NAPA 1374 and 1348. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-802a-mep-803a-filters-and-parts.186068/
