Have you considered getting rid of the entire box and updating to a newer design. I did a write up on a retrofit voltage regulator for the 004/005. I have several thousand hours on a advr-054 and a marothon se-350 voltage regulator.
You're wasting your money on the 804 for single phase. You will derate the 804 down to 10kw or less. I load test the 803a to 13kw so you will have enough power to do whatever you want.
The amount of trash on the check valve was minimal. I did clean it with carb cleaner twice but was still having the issue. I believe the trash came from the bottom of the filter canisters which were cleaned with carb cleaner too. Before I started, I drained the day tank and filter housings to...
Last night worked on it some more. Pulled all the rubber lines off and cleaned the inside with carb cleaner, still had the same issue. Took the tee off the top of the injector pump where the check valve is located. It had a little trash on it, cleaned and reinstalled. It ran for about 2 minutes...
Mep-005a runs for about 30 seconds and then dies due to no fuel to pump. I sold this unit about 3 years ago and it ran perfect. Apparently the new owners have never ran it and need it now. It starts right up, runs 30 seconds and then slowly dies. Crack the fuel line at the pump, no fuel at first...
Hey Brandon welcome to the group. I see you're from Dyer County TN, I'm just south in Ripley. I see you got the unit out of Hopkinsville KY, congrats. I think you got your answer to everything so far. If you need anything, I have part units and if I don't have it, I can lead you in the right...
Sounds like the master switch. Have you taken readings when moving the switch to prime and then start to see if its working? If its a fault then you can push/hold the reset button in the front then try to crank. If it starts, keep holding the reset switch and hit battle switch on. Should stay...
Pull the exciter box that is above the starter and take the cover off. I beat it's the T2 transformer is burned up. 1st option is to try and replace the transformer but more things will go bad or convert over to a modern Voltage regulator. Several threads about it, most recent being one of mine...
Have the injectors checked before you rebuild. If its an internal problem such as a valve, head, piston, etc. it doesn't go away when warm. Ive had several with the same symptoms that clear after warming and it was the injectors. I have one now that smokes on one cylinder all the time. I had the...
All normal looking stuff, the rust between the block and head is normal. It looks like it does have a leak on the water pump. Personally I wouldn't worry about it because most of the time that build up seals the leak. I would recommend changing the fuel return lines and the fuel lines to the...
(9) MEP-004a or 005a voltage regulator | SteelSoldiers check out my most recent updated post. The 004 and 005 use the same electrical system. I finally pulled the entire VR/exciter box. I originally replaced the T2 transformer with a SP100MQMJ transformer and hooked it up. Worked well for a...
From your pictures, the original owner had problems with the day tank float or solenoid. You can see they bypassed it with the hoses and have the pumps running directly through the filters, to the injector pump. The problem is when you use the original aux fuel hookups, the injector return line...
We have a member that made a very similar looking gauge. I bought several for 00xa series because the transducer can't be found. Really nice design, only downfall was that it was not water proof. It let condensation and water behind the plastic messing them up. Took a year or more to develope...
If using 3 phase 416v or above. I suggest a Marathon se350 VR. I added the same push button excitor to the unit and it does great. That unit is running at 480v 3phase for a irrigation well pump.
So guys wanted to give everyone an update. The advr054 Works perfect as long as you have residual electricity. I let the unit sit for over a year and started it up, no power. So i installed a simple push button switch to excite the field. I used this push button switch from Oreilly's, then ran...
Since you have the back cover off you should be able to slide it over just alittle to line up. There is a pressure hold down on top near the aux pump you may have to loosen but thats it.
