The control box (DCS) do go bad. One issue is they are supposed to be sealed to keep moisture out. Unfortunately sometimes moist air works its way in, condenses and causes corrosion.
Normally with the breaker OFF you'd see 24 volts across its two terminals and 0 volts with the breaker ON.
There is also a small circuit breaker in the Relay/Breaker box for the head unit power.
Look to the right in the hole. When the set is stopped you should see the end of the fuel rack.
Now, while watching it use you right hand to retract the fuel solenoid to the run position. As you do the end of the fuel rack should move to the right out kind of out of sight which would be...
You'll want to switch the power to the buck converter to turn the LEDs on and off. That way the idle current drain of the buck converter won't draw down your batteries when the LEDs are off.
Possibly the fuel rack is stuck in the Stop position. Have had that issue a few times with my 802. Seemed to be due to one of the IP pins jumping out of the rack causing it to not move or a gummed up IP.
You'd need to remove the hex plug in the governor body to see it the rack moves to the...
Yes, I have a kit to do that exact conversion.
- New custom Governor Controller to maintain 60 Hz
- Wire Harness, Transformer Assembly, Current Sensors, Installation hardware with instructions
- Gen head not supplied. It can be ordered direct from Mecc Alte for about $450 delivered.

Selecting a current limiting resistors resistance and wattage is dependent upon:
- DC voltage source
- Forward Voltage drop of the LED
- LED current specification
Some LED assemblies have a current limiting resistor built in, other do not.
