    pulling trigger on hard doors

Original rear half doors are 3/16" thick aluminum. I measured mine at one point in my build thread... https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/my-new-1992-m998-avenger.184818/post-2207356 3/16" thick aluminum weights in at about 1.75 lbs per SQ/FT so an aluminum door 30" x 42" (just a guess) is...

    pulling trigger on hard doors

First I have nothing to do with these doors and I have no first hand experience. I just happen to see them today on a facebook group named "HMMWV Swap Meet". There is some discussion going on about fit etc, and I would recommend checking out the discussion if you are interested. I did not see...

    Anti-theft measures?

The problem with the key fob and keyed run/start switch is it only takes a few seconds to reach under the dash and defeat them both. Any other hidden cut off switch adds more security. I've been contemplating a cut off switch as well but haven't found one I want to use yet.

    STE/ICE connector

Based on the cost and difficulty of finding the connector I have gone in a different direction.

    STE/ICE connector

No, I just need a connector that I can custom wire. There are signals and wires I can use to hook up stuff. I could run other wires but I think this would be cleaner looking.

    STE/ICE connector

I'm trying to find the connector that plugs into the STE/ICE plug in the HMMWV. I have searched to no avail. I'm not even sure there is a connector available, has anyone seen one or know what I would look for to find one. Thanks for any help.

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

After getting the 12v system working I wired the Visor mounted rear view camera and tested it. Rear view of my packed and cluttered garage. Front view from the dash camera function.

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I purchased 24v to 12v DC to DC converter at 20 amps to setup a 12vdc fused electrical system. I tapped off the CB-1 circuit breaker that runs the heater fan. Nothing on the 12v system will draw much current so it shouldn't be a problem if the heat fan is running. Also it's not really a...

    Humvee cluster acting up solved

No, sorry. Please see attached picture and explain to me at what point in that circuit would the light come on? Hint, the answer is never. If any of the positive (BLUE wires in the diagram I posted) were shorted to ground anywhere it would be the same as the circuit in the picture below...

    Humvee cluster acting up solved

I'm going to guess it is not shorted at a wire because if it was the brake light would not come on. The way it is acting, it seems as if something has a high current draw rather than a dead short. Maybe the wiper motor is no good and the switch is on for example. Or maybe there is a bad...

    Humvee cluster acting up solved

First I don't believe it's a ground issue. A bad ground wouldn't trip the breaker like that (assuming it is a tripping breaker we hear). I have attached a basic wiring diagram, M997 in this case since I couldn't find a M998. They should be close enough for this discussion. I have also...

    Humvee cluster acting up solved

I would start at the circuit breaker. Remove the gauge panel and there are 2 circuit breakers. I attached a picture if you don't know what they look like. CB-2 is the one that supplies power to everything. Find that one and pull one side of it and check for voltage to see what side is the...

    Humvee cluster acting up solved

I think you are tripping a circuit breaker also. There are 2 behind the gauge cluster panel. One is directly off the RUN position. I would start looking for the problem before doing that again.

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

Not even going to try to fix that brass tube that is split. It is epoxied into the pump and is not right. I will replace it one way or the other to fix it.

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

Thanks for the information, I will give it a shot. The wiper on the driver side is almost in front of the dash cam and in my view more than I like so I am going to try it the other way. I will note the pass side mirror after i try it however I have added the rear view camera to act like a rear...

    Value assessment

FYI to clarify I wasn't crapping on anything, gave you an honest answer to your question with what I thought was a fair market value. I see LOTS of them for sale on FB HMMWV Swap Meet group and some are outrageously priced and others are reasonable and actually sell.

    Value assessment

IMO, your truck is a very basic model with no frills or extras. I would agree with the rest here that investing more money on other parts will not get you any gains. If you plan to sell it then sell it the way it is. If you plan to keep it then expect to put lots of money and time into it...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I also worked on more of the wiring today. I wired the electronic speedometer, hooked up the reverse lights, installed the TC Lock light and a few other things. I thought I would show how I am tying in the wires. For example the reverse lights needed a power source and I only wanted them to...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I have replaced the windshield washer tank and pump with a new one I bought on epay back in Feb 2021 and today I wanted to test the spray nozzles to see if I should replace them. I put some fluid in it and they did not spray well. In fact it seemed to spray from the line where it connected to...

    My new 1992 M998 Avenger

I finished the Visor today and mounted it. I used 4 trim screws to mount the display. Side note, someone previously mentioned the wipers stopped on the wrong side of the window. If anyone knows how to make them stop on the other side feel free to post up as i would like them on the other side.
