A few tips! Swap out that intake for a HMMWV intake. It has an 1 giant open plenum with no divider inside so the engine can suck air in easier. I would also flip your air cleaner lid over. It will make a lot more noise, but your freeing up even more air.
You said you are new to diesels. It...
Wow, 200k on an 85 700r4. That is pretty impressive man . Mine has about 100,000 on it or so I was told. Hey if kept cool, clean and you set things up correctly and use it with common sense I see no reason they shouldn't last into the 200k range even stock. A spare around is a great idea, I will...
I can't count the number of times i've called some parts house or something of the sort and we get to talking about military vehicles, I tell them I am a SS member and they are all like "oh yeah i've heard of that!" or they know someone who is an active member.
Being a SteelSoldier and owning...
:funny: Yes the 700 is an awesome transmission and mates really well with the 6.2. I believe operator error is the #1 cause of failure for both units. I hope to repower an M35 someday with a hopped up 6.5 GEP motor and Raptor 700r4 with a Np241 for the awesome low range. Plus retain the stock...
Very cool man, glad to hear everything is working out so well. What did you do to the trans, is it stock and is it a post 1989 model?
The 700r4 I put in my M211 is a 92 K case and is completely stock. 13,000lbs empty but it has 6.33 axles (counting the 16% permanant tcase underdrive). So it...
Going to air brush black model paint onto them (just thin enough to fix the faded ink) and then go over the raised lettering with a Zacto knife under my bench lighted magnifying glass. If I take my time they should come out almost brand new. Don't expect them to be perfect! :D
Uncle gave me a gift card to Pep Boys a few days ago, went and took care of all my electrical on my shopping list. After 3 days work I should now have working lights, instruments, buzzer, converter box wired in for 12v items, and a working starter lever I rigged up with a push button starter...
Wonderful, I edited my diagram to include a fuse between the starter solenoid and the IP solenoid. It's a super basic diagram and does not deviate from the stock deuce harness at all except for 1 re routed wire. I have not made up a glow plug schematic yet.
In the middle of tackling all of my wiring in the 6.2 M211 retrofit project. My knowledge of anything electrical is limited but I know enough to realize that fuses for big power drawing devices such as glow plugs, fuel pumps and lights are a must.
Do I need a fuse in between the Ignition...
HA! You guys think your nervous about your unfired motors. I traded my M1 Garand for a surplus 6.2 last year and I still have not fired it up. Been a lot of set backs and have taken my time getting everything setup, installed and fabricated.
It came from here Ranger Rix 6.2 Diesel He was a...
Butch, by perfect replacement do you mean a drop in fit in replacement for the stock in tank pump? I am assuming you don't have the vehicle info you gave them to find the pump in their books.
Yeah it goes away eventually, I stopped worrying about it since it only does it when it's wet which isn't a lot around here with 2" of yearly rain fall IF THAT. When it's dry the streaks are gone.
Could it be you don't see the streaking on a house wall because a homes exterior surface is usually of the textured type? Whereas a deuce is like a giant flat bill board with no texture at all.
Thanks a lot buddy it means a lot!! Here are the pics for the evening!!
For those who are not in the know here, Dave M1010Plowboy is about the best friend a guy can have. I mean, thanks to this guy I will not only have a nice running/looking GMC but hopefully a future career in...
Awwwww Digger Dave that was tho thweet of you.
Seriously man I have NEVER seen so much green!!! I recognize that white pickup, how is the she doing these day's? Do you still rub the dash board and talk to her every once in awhile? Remember "Christine"? I miss that truck truck and it...
Sounds awesome man! I can't believe how small the 302 looks in the bay. Can't wait to get my hands on that thing after driving mine. Folks we will be posting GMC races. 6.2 vs 302. I see you also use your bumper as a work surface! Good job to both Daves.
That is so awesome, you guys have to re-plant all that or??? Am I understand it the M211 might be put to work for World Landscapes in the future??? Post more pics man come on it's my B-day today.....50 minutes to go actually.
Matt, I am in Yuma. Lone steel soldier down here, next year I am hoping to compose a list of AZ SS guys so we can do a Phoenix Rally or some sort. If you ever through stop by for some buds.
