Yes that sounds right, they are gounded internally. So you think you have 29 or so total volts? If you think the alternantors are your draw you can unplug the regulator as they can be the draw...but that's a shot in the dark yet...what's the volt draw that you have that's draining the...
Dang you're having a bad week!! Is this a new problem since the glow plugs or did it do this before...ugh...I think when I was going through some weird stuff with mine I found using the alt sticky that are written up and go step by step as it says just to make sure I didn't miss anything...
That stuff does get confusing...really if your alternators are charging as they should be then the drivers side is grounded correctly...there's a stud on the back of that one that usually has a wire running to a stud by the thermostat housing...the passengers side does not. As far as a draw...
We had another productive day...got the battery trays out of the m1009 and he spent 5 hours cleaning, grinding and welding in some new metal to replace some rust...came out great...should get the new fender and well on it Sunday. On the M1008 front I spent a little time dialing in the vacuum at...
Ok as the story goes these trucks are never done!! I got it running great now with the new fuel, tank and filter...buuuuttttt it won't shift until up to 35 for second and 45 for 3rd....poor D is screamin...so I knew I had a good vacuum pump but for some reason I had full vacuum at the modulator...
Hopefully that's all you need to replace! There is a very short piece at the trans too....might want to change that as well since you'll have a few extra inches left over from the few feet you buy...probably need about 2 1/2 feet.
LEDs can work sometimes like a filament bulb and sometimes not...have no idea why...I use the led relay instead of using the individual resistor for each one...some are adjustable for flash speed as well...not sure how well they'd work with no leds or a mixture of them...I used led 194s all over...
Yeah probably a good thing to remove that...the vacuum pump has a tee in it the might be leaking...I replace all that vacuum line just so it's good. It' good that it whistles...you know it's making good vacuum!
Maybe you bumped the vacuum line going to the trans...there's a valve at the the throttle cable that feeds off the vacuum pump back where a distributor would be in a gas engine...shouldn't be that tough to find.
So all this crazy warm weather has really got me goin on these projects on the trucks...I got new straps for the tank and used a 26 inch bike tube to insulate the tank from the mount and straps...worked great...I found some allen head stainless bolts to hold the straps back on which worked as...
You'll need a volt meter and see if your getting the 25 up volts while running...if you had the plug that you cleaned not plugged into the alternator when it sparked the regulator should be ok...that plug goes into the regulator.
That spring shouldn't be that tough to get...probably have one in a hardware kit. Looks like tomorrow will be warm as well...plan on getting more done while it is warm out!
So as usual just replacing the fuel tank that should take about a half hour is now going to drag into tomorrow...I broke one of the hanger brackets so that was another trip to the parts store plus looking for something to bolt the straps on with...found some flat head stainless bolts that will...
If I remember right yes on the number...if you look at your last pic you can see the yellow 20 gauge wire with fusible link written on it...the pull method works but just to be sure you need to check for volts with a test light or meter...the pull method is great for quick checks or roadside...
yup those little buggers are meant to let the smoke out but look fine...sometimes if they burn good you can just pull on them and they come apart...another good thing about pulling on them is you may find one that isn't burned all the way that isn't related to what you have going on but needs...
So I finally got around to draining the fuel out of the tank in the 1028 and it really stinks of old turpy fuel...only got a few gallons out! I removed the filler hose and found nothing but rust and gunk as far as I could stick my fingers in there so I'm going to get a new tank and sender for...
I watched a video on youtube not long ago about what wire did what but can't find it!! Anyhow,,,pop a test light on the wires coming out of the card and turn on the ig switch and find the one that goes off with the light on the dash...probably the quickest way to find it without knowing.
did you check voltage at that plug yet? Also did you check the wires up at the fuse block on top by the batteries? Probably fried a link...pull on them and see which one comes apart and replace it.
That's excellent!! I see a 4th groove on the water pump pulley...did you add one on the end or get another pulley and also add one on the crank too? Did you make another one of those brackets or have a diagram on how to make it? I got 2 of these that I need to get ac in. I assume the...
