Their failure is rare. They are built very robust, and their duty cyle usage rate is very low. If you are not using it to prime your fuel system, they will last darn near forever, if not submerged.
Member TedCat makes them in any length, TIG welded stainless, if you remove the original, it looks questionable, and you never want to doubt it again. Stainless tube and top threaded fitting, if it is a thread-in ordeal like on M939xx.
Understood, thanks, I need to think outside my block more, answer is to start the 250 engine, especially cold. Guess I'm spoiled, 8.3L with a modern gear reduction starter nearly fires-off with an Eveready 9V.
Why do you guys run that much battery? Is it just the “more is better” thing going on? Does your alternator suck? Run a lot of loads with the engine off? Engine hard to start? Going hybrid?
I just see a lot of un-necessary cost and weight, but maybe there is something I don’t get. Don’t...
The old hammer trick mostly works with 2 people in play. One needs to hold the start switch engaged, and the other to whack the starter motor on the side at the rear. Reason this sometimes works is to jiggle the brushes. A metal brush holder can rust and keep the brushes from extending out...
There is one small difference between the original and the NAPA (Katz). The NAPA one will not have a threaded port for the small over-pressurization blow off vent valve on the can itself. There is a small capillary tube the threads into the original can and leads this away from underhood. The...
The starter is built much more durable than the solenoids within the PCB. You could test for crank signal being sent to the starter, but with the age of these trucks, it really just makes sense to rebuild the PCB with 2 new solenoids if you want it to be reliable.
10-4 on braces, both my kids have them, there goes $10,000.
So the Simp855 didn’t fire in the test video. Mine did. If he goes from non-running to installed and running well, before me, I’ll have to hand it to him. My trans will still shift faster though !!! Bring it bubs....
The race is on.
Your swap will be a good one for the board to learn. Big Cam turbo engines are awesome, plentiful, and low cost. You are replacing an engine the same displacement and block style, so hope it goes well.
I used to think Monroe were the ones to have, until I rode in vehicles with higher end shocks like Bilstein. Huge difference in quality, and price as one would expect.
All shocks are oil damped, the gas charging is atop of this.
So the priority list is as follows:
1. Get back to conti-US
2. Finish 5.9kW solar panel install on garage to beat June deadline of utility company
3. Replace all 12 torque link ends, both axles are currently held in place with ratchet straps
4. Engine/trans swap
We just passed the one year...
Very sorry to hear.
For the fishing tackle one, a group broke into my parents small boat at the time when I was a kid and took our fishing equipment (only). Sucked, as most of it was historical from grandparents (no monetary value), and they broke a lot of fiberglass/wood with a hammer to do...
Thanks,
I may have a line on 3 brand new 24Si genuine Delco 24v 70a units also, will post in classifieds if so. They are modern technology, open architecture, light/small, twin internal fan, temperature compensated regulator, basically a late copy of the high quality Japanese units that have...
Member TedCat and I developed the stainless M939 fuel tank dip tubes (I think others have done it as well, but not for sale?), well, he did all the work actually, I just sourced a NASCAR nuclear level TIG welder for them, now they are all him. Ted can supply one or both tubes, they are...
Hang on, I’m in Hawaii right now. Their fire department is switching to our starters, so I had to stop by and do a fit check...
You should see this thing these dancers can do with their hips. Yikes.
