Common on the old stuff, called contact welding. Modern starters use a knurled surface to prevent that from happening. I broke open a 2017 model with a hammer to take this photo and show:
Ask at the Cummins parts counter if the seal you are buying comes with a new wear sleeve or not. It is much easier to replace with a stock size seal and no wear sleeve, unless one was installed already. The crank surface is much higher quality than a Speedi-Sleeve. Try to use just the crank...
I always take bait. I did miss the beach. They can barely pull their own weight in the sand. Buy a D8.
3-4 years out? A lot will change by then. Price of these trucks is on a high right now since auctions dried up. To be seen if they come down or not, historically has. These trucks...
Why do you want a 6x6 to tow on-road (assumption here)? Doubling as a toy (then I get it, kind of)? Otherwise, buy a used 10 year old class 6-7 single rear axle diesel stake type truck or tractor and be done with it. Depends on how often you'll be doing it, and if it is a toy when not.
eBay of full of nice ones spun from solid barstock, in both 8 groove serpentine and double V groove. 21Si and clone are 7/8" shaft diameter. Serpentine pulley is about $14 delivered, and double V groove about $18. Both may include a keyway broached into it, simply ignore this, it is designed...
You could also build a quick gantry out of 2x4's over the engine, for cheap, and quick. Go 3 on edge across the top as a beam, she'll hold just fine to lift the head, maybe even just 2. Make it extra wide on one side, and use an old roller skate as a trolley on top of it. Leave the center...
Exactly. Others have been able to put this together and make it work. There is no one specific part number for this. Different alt part numbers change the B+ location. The pulley shaft is 7/8” diameter. That’s the last of the giveaways.
The Chinese Delco clones can be had right now new for $69 delivered including warranty. That pricing is so low that I don’t dabble in it anymore, unless somebody wants high output or genuine Delco. 70A is plenty for these trucks, even with aftermarket accessories. And, the Chinese units seem...
I'd go sub-frame with hinges built into that (easy), then line the bed floor with thick outdoor plywood, carriage bolted down. Steel plates are heavy and will cut into your load carrying and dump capacity. You'll get a few different opinions here, which is a good thing as you know.
More large than heavy. I did mine with 4 adults and 30 seconds, 2 on each side, and no one strained at all. Just have to police people not to pull it toward them after they lift. I HATE when people do that.
Thanks bud, you should hang out here more often, our attendance is currently on a slight decline via atrition.
Called a 3 flute spiral tap. Made to eject chips upward for doing blind holes. We’ll see what happens. Side betting pool forming for if the tap will break or if WildChild467 gets...
You will be. I'll need you to man the motor drive switch. The lathe does not have a brake, so when the tap get to depth, quickly throw the motor switch into reverse, I'll be pushing on the tailstock to feed threads. Don't wear a tie.
Check this bad dog out, she's ready to eat:
