Several members here have had excellent luck with Allison dealers. One hour of tech time has resolved numerous issues such as this.
We should be the ones mad. You just registered here to get on and yell at us, get answers to solve your problem, then we’ll never hear from you again. You...
Nice post. Welcome to the site.
Pull on the trans modulator cable at the throttle lever on the injection pump and see if it has spring tension against it and snaps back when released. Flood this tube with WD/40 and a straw while doing so.
Also check the adjustment position of the cable...
In any situation where this commonly happens, the price is then further reduced by the cost of a good used replacement transmission and the labor to install it. Not a big deal. Common business transaction.
Well, if you already tried all we suggested, and it still is not working, then the transmission is probably lunched. Even if it magically started working again, I would not buy it. Your potential buyer asked for our advice, and that is mine. No reason to break friendships over him with it...
It is OK to try and make a quick buck. Most all of us here try it nearly every chance we get.
Guy pulled a loan to buy your truck, now has cash in hand, and it doesn’t shift right. Your move.
MrsB, your potential buyer came here and posted asking if we think the truck has transmission issues. Maybe you would be interested in answering the question.
Well, you have a few choices. Engine and trans are missing from towed truck, so that drops significant weight from it. The vehicle you would be towing with will weigh more, and M939 brakes are superbly powerful.
Tow bar offer stands if you decide.
Only couple of air lines to 8.3L engine. One from the compressor which may have a check valve, and one to the fan control. May be a small hose signal from air governor to compressor unloader also, check the diagram.
You’ll need air to release the spring brakes anyway, unless they have...
You may be able to do it with a chain and your truck, but I would do it in the middle of the night when nobody is on the road. Go to a NAPA, they have glad hand ends in stock, make up a low cost set of air lines to run the brakes from truck to truck. If you sit somebody strong in the cab, they...
Jake was $500 for the complete system, ISL is the smallest engine an engine compression brake is made for. Seek build thread "Power Surge" and "Transmission swap", I have a 13 speed Road Ranger hanging off the back of it. Not installed yet. Awaiting the ice to melt off the street as it will...
I have one you are welcome to borrow. Looks like about a 2 hour drive for you each way, x 4 total to get it and return it, so if you are OK with 8 hours of driving, I'd be happy to help. You break it you replace it in a timely manner type thing, of course.
I think you already bought it, but I have a contact for a diesel engine core supplier. It is where I bought my ISL Jake brake setup from. Don’t use one from a 5.9L, each is tuned to a specific resonant engine frequency.
Normal stuff in your pic. Daughter, truck, boats, shipping container...
From here we have done all we can. Provided same day reaponse of TM pages, advice, and live engine photos. At this point you’ll have to get some skin in the game (possibly literally). Good luck, let us know what you find.
Above will work, but make sure you strap the ratchet or breaker bar to the frame rail first, otherwise it can come off and fly through your radiator. Also make sure you are going the right way (know engine rotation direction). Make sure nobody is standing in line with it. Tell the dog to stay...
PM sent.
I don't have the exchanger to heat engine coolant. There is also an engine oil heater portion, I think it is really just a deflector which flows the heater exhaust across the oil pan.
