Any updates? Looks like a big project, but it will all be worth it when you get done. Maybe I can get enough "shore leave" to make it to Aberdeen 2012 in my 998 so we can talk shop.
Thanks Ted. That really helps with the visualization. I wish you were closer. I'd come drool on all of your HMMWV's.
Matt! Good to hear from you. I thought you forgot about me and the Cummins adapters. Glad to know you still have a stack for me. Maybe I can sneak out east and meet you...
LOL, thanks Ted. I have looked in the -24P by the way so none of y'all better talk any crap! I just like real pics instead of line drawings. Crawling over a complete vehicle is even better when you are working on a basket case because the -24P doesn't show the exact location of some...
Oh, an auxiliary ground harness, now I get it. I'll make one up. Thanks for the pics! Could you take some close-ups of the plumbing for the CDR and fan clutch when you get a moment?
Hi Ted,
I will definitely look at the brake system and vent system while the stack is out. It is really easy to access right now! Good point on the crank seal. It's a pretty simple R/R job with all of the stuff out of the way.
It turns out that I have the fan clutch covered after all...
Here's a few more! The engine is still a bit greasy, but I'll give it one final cleaning after it's all together. More pics to come after I make some more progress.
Thanks Ted. Yeah the converter slipped out pretty easily and I had a drain pan ready thankfully. Please sign me up for a fan clutch! I didn't loosen the nuts on the mounts. I just fiddled around with the bolts while tapping on the mount with a hammer. Loosening the nuts probable would have...
Wow! What an absolutely gonzo weekend of HMMWV work! Friday night was spent going over the M998 taking inventory of everything and trying to create a plan of attack. I had already arranged to have a running LL4 6.2L engine pulled from a K20 Chevy at a wrecking yard in OH and was planning on...
Great tips, Ted! I am hoping to get the old engine out tonight so I can make sure I have all the parts I need to get this done before everyone shuts down for the holiday. Great idea about the input seal. I hadn't thought of that yet. This thing has been sitting for a long time so I imagine...
Well, I haven't made any progress since the last update in June. Numerous family commitments have taken precedence over the HMMWV. Now, I am up against a serious deadline because my #2 son is due by the end of the month and I have strict orders to get the HMMWV operational and out of the...
Hi Everyone,
Manstein has elected to step down from his position as SS Chaplain. He served us well over the last 18 months, but now he must resign because of his extensive work-related travel and lack of free time. Thank you sir for your commitment and service.
Thankfully, John aka...
Thanks for the alert. We all need to be extra vigilant in the age of electronic scams and identity theft. Just because someone has an SS membership doesn't mean they are legit or have scruples. Stay safe out there folks and don't hesitate to notify site admin or mods.
Ok just double checked the settings and it looks like the vBSEO didn't reactivate when worked on it last time. I just reactivated it again. Let me know what happens. Thanks folks.
Worst case scenario is I reactivate the vBSEO and the redirects come back on google. I am hoping that there are just a few bad links after turning the SEO off and that it will work itself out in the next 24hrs. Hang in there folks.
What browsers are you guys using? I'm not having any problems with Firefox.
The vBSEO that I disabled was really designed to optimize the site for search engines. It refined any links that were posted on the site to make them easier to crawl and post in search results. Without the SEO...
