    LDS-427 turbo

I was under the impression 47InHg is roughly the same as 23.5 psi, at 2600rpm under full load. InHg(inches of mercury) is not the same as inches of water. Measuring boost at maximum governed speed is a problem, as the governor won't let the rpm's go any higher under any considerable load, so you...

    LDS-427 turbo

Turbochargers 4-456, the bigger one , used on the LDS 465-1 (not -1A !!!), and 4D-454C, the smaller one, used on late LDS 427-2 engines (TM 9-2815-204-35 is wrong, it's not just 4D). I moved the turbos around taking the pictures, don't let that confuse you, the 4-456 is the one with the red...

    Got a Deuce! '62 M35A1

This one works great: Lay the tire flat on the ground, locking ring up. Completely deflate the tire by removing the valve core. Push the valve stem in. Push the bead from the locking ring. (The bead breaker will clamp to the rim automatically, wedge itself under the locking ring, and push the...

    Oil leaking from turbo

I had leaks looking exacly like that, even on non-turbo trucks. It was unburned fuel condensating in the exhaust system from idleing the engine too much, and leaking from the joints. The problem disappeared after driving the trucks regularly over longer distances.

    Got a Deuce! '62 M35A1

The military used regular brake fluid (called HB in the older lube orders) before switching over to DOT5. One of the reasons for using DOT5 was beeing able to keep huge amounts of vehicles in storage, often parked outside, without having to worry about regular brake fluid changes, only to find...

    1962 White M35 multifuel

The adjustment for the fuel stop is right in front of the FDC under a cover. The bolts are usually safety wired and sealed. Remove lockwire, 2 bolts, and cover. You will now see a short piece of threaded rod sticking out, with 2 nuts on it. One is a locknut, the other is the fuel stop adjustment...

    M35A2 trouble shooting starter/electrical problem

Turning the fan works. Or use a ratchet w/ socket on the alternator pulley to turn the engine. In both cases, push down on the V-belt with your thumb to keep it from slipping on the pulley. Make sure the battery clamps are in good condition, and tight on the posts.

    Oil leaking from turbo

I did a little research, as You said, I'm not done yet, but this is what i found for so far: By googleing 3LM39, i found that this turbo was used on 2-1/2 ton multifuel trucks. (I knew that already, because every non-whistler i have removed from a 465 engine had that model number on the data...

    Oil leaking from turbo

That's a slobber tube extension. Highly recommended. And it is not connected to the turbo.

    Oil leaking from turbo

It helps for sure, but there is a small mistake: It's 3lm39, not 3LM319 And: Schwitzer 4-450 for the early LDS 427-2

    NSN for M35 trucks

I don't know much about M715s. The only thing i know about M715s is that they are some of the best looking MVs ever made. Do they have a serial # stamped into the frame? You need to find out if the data plate belongs to the truck, and make sure it wasn't replaced, due to beeing damaged or...

    NSN for M35 trucks

I have a list with M35 & M35A1 serial and reg numbers (and one for M 151s), so i don't have to use my date of birth as a hood number. However, the list is not complete, and it's Army only. Some trucks are listed only by reg number, some only by serial. Some trucks are listed with an obviously...

    Oil leaking from turbo

Good luck trying to order a rebuild kit for a ''D-turbo''! The non-whistlers commonly found on the LDT engines are Schwitzer 3LM39 models. It 's very unlikely that that You are going to find repair manuals, technical information, or parts if you look for ''D'' turbo stuff. The BS designations...

    M151's in Arizona?

Thanks, that is what I expected. I just checked Brent Mullins' webpage. U.S. made 106mm RR are now $6,000. Not bad. Demilled M79 mounts $2,000 (U.S. made) or 1,500 (spanish made). A M79 mount would be OK for now. I still need to find an european vendor. Shipping from the U.S. would be to...
