    m109a2

Here is the first one: From TM 9-2320-209-20 dated 7 april 1965 on page 20: "The M109, M109A1, M109C, and M109D are gasoline engine models with minor differences. The M109A2 is the same as the M109, except that it has a multifuel engine." And: " Instrument repair shop vans M185, M185A1, and...

    m109a2

Emmett, i will have to dig out some TM´s for you, that is where i got all that from, but it could also have been figured out by comparing trucks and reading the data plates in them, and on the engines and components. You are absolutely right on the hearsay. Many people on here just spread...

    m109a2

OK, here is some information for you: The M109A2 has the same engine as the M35A1 (LDS 427-2) and the same exhaust that exits between the rear wheels. All have the sprag transfer. The M109A3 has the same engines as the M35A2: LD 465-1, LD 465-1C, or LDT 465-1C. Exhaust is either horizontal...

Got a 1951 M100 what type of plug is this?

That´s a civilian modification, the original setup consisted of a much bigger 12-pin socket with separate cable. The cable was stored in a box on the front of the trailer when not in use. The box is missing on your trailer, it was mounted to the 2 brackets on the front of the tub. Your trailer...

So what is the true HP out of the LDT-465-1C?

    MY Airpack Rebuild with Photos!

Dot 5 for all parts that come in contact with brake fluid. Mineral oil based lubricants would ruin the seals. For the air side, the prescribed lubricant is OHT, a mineral oil based hydraulic fluid. Soak the felt seal before assembly. Also, a few squirts are to be added periodically through the...

    Vehicle Winterization Kit Info Needed

Sometimes in the ´70s the military ran out of federal stock numbers, so the national stock number was adopted. By inserting the national symbol 00 after the federal supply class number, the old federal stock number was converted into the new NSN, and a second series of NSN´s was created with...

    Where are the Studebakers?

There is no difference between a studebaker and another brand truck, if built the same year. Studebakers were built until around 1964, so they have all the early details like gassers or LDS 427-2 engines, sprag transfers, 25amp generators, and other small differences.

    sprag and airshift questions

A 1967 deuce should be air shift. Look at the transfer case, above and to the left of the front wheel drive shaft output flange, and below the speedo drive adapter : If there is a linkage connected to the transmission, it is sprag. (Do not confuse with the transfer shifter, which is above the...

    Turbo parts #'s

If you sold it as a whistler, and it does whistle, you are good. The 3LD305 is definitely special and rare, why it was replaced by the 3LJ, i don´t know, it may just have been discontinued. However, this turbo can be seen in most LDT pictures in the manuals. I would love to have one for my...

    Where are the Studebakers?

It is a 1962 Studebaker-Packard. I took the pictures the same day i bought it, i lost other, more recent pictures when my harddrive crashed, so that is all for now. I am planning to return the truck to the original configuration, and already found most parts, marker & tail lights, horizontal...

    Turbo parts #'s

The 3LD305 is the first turbo model, used only on early LDT465-1C engines. The the common whistler ist the 3LJ 319, factory original on LDT465-1C AND -1D The non-whistler 3LM39 was used only on the LDT465-1D. All turbos were used by the military as a replacement on both LDT models and even on...

found m35a1 what am I in for

That is exactly how i see it. I have never had a problem with my 427, but i treat it with respect. Also, the design of the head gasket was changed 3 times after the production of the 427 ended. Mine has the 3rd (vented) type.

found m35a1 what am I in for

P.S.: That engine is a late LDS 427-2 with Schwitzer 4D-454C turbo as used 1963-64. the data is cast into the block behind and above the generator

    Taillights - 1950's Configuration

That 1965 dash20 manual is the only old manual i can get to right now. I do have more and older manuals including a 9-8022(i think)for the M34/35 and a 1960 dash10 for my M35A1. From what i can see from the pictures the single service tail/stoplight was standard until at least1960, but the...

found m35a1 what am I in for

That is in fact a M35 A1 with the original engine type in it. The LDS 427-2 engine can be easily identified by the data plate saying Hypercycle instead of Multifuel (but it does run on multi fuels just like all other multifuels), the funnel-shaped oil filler neck, and the turbo / intake air...

    Taillights - 1950's Configuration

The 1965 manual mentions turn signals as a new feature for the then new A2. This means that A2´s came from the factory with the 2 service tail & stop / BO taillight combinations and BO stoplight on the extra bracket. It does not mean that earlier trucks did not come from the factory with the...
