I'm debating about putting on air lockers or not. One mechanic friend is like, it's a 6x6, you'll never need them, but another mechanic (and also my opinion) is that if I ever do need one, it'd suck to be without.
I don't plan on doing any rock crawling, but beach/desert sand, unimproved...
I'm all for safety. I like to take my chances when the odds are in my favor. And, remember there's nothing wrong with helping the economy by hiring a mechanic if you're just not sure.
Lockout hubs on the front axle. To be clear, I had a shop do them though I probably should've done them myself, they were supposed to do a bunch of stuff and I had them do this as well, but they never got to the other stuff *sigh*
Unfortunately comparing the deuce to just about anything else is the classic argument of apples to oranges.
If you think the DMV clerks don't know what they're on about, hire a lawyer or do the reading yourself. I wouldn't take the word of anyone else that A) doesn't live in your state and B)...
More like a typographical error.
The post wrote 44 x 87, but meant to write 144" x 87" which does equal 12,528 [bed is 12' x 7' 3" - inside dimensions]
A cubic inch of water weighs 0.036127 (presumably at sea level). So... .036127 * 200448 = 7241.58 lbs. I think the difference in math is...
Seems like there should be a sticky thread labeled this. Hard to do a search for something you don't know the name of.
M35A3 air intake assembly
Anyways, in the attached diagram, off to the side of the main vertical cylinder there is a little...shunt? and an opening that looks like it needs...
Photoshop doesn't work IRL, this guy's work does. You see it because you're looking for it, but if you were shopping and an arm suddenly appeared out of the vegetable rack you'd (or some) would probably freak out.
I have my own camo story...I was playing paintball in my 20's and dressed in...
Almost every time I do something on this truck I use new nuts/bolts. If the previous bolt was on anything that could move, it got bent and broke off when I removed it.
These showed up on a web search while looking for something else and thought I'd post here.

They look like they'd work, pretty **** expensive though. Still, if you're determined to go this route which I don't think is really a...
I'd recommend looking through this site first and seeing what others have done because there are a whole lot of options. When you say conventional, I assume you want to move away from the NDT's (stock) to something with radials. Do you want to switch the wheel and tire or just the tire? Do...
I think stars look best with a solid background and historically (I think), OD green.
Are you looking to make it authentic? If not it's your truck do what you want.
So, I'm looking at "no-idle" hvac units and they cost a fortune, easily double the cost of non-idle - thousands of $!
The reason I want no idle is I want to eventually turn this into a camper and idling these trucks is insane.
If I could figure out a way to delete this post I would.
I'm...
I'm bringing this thread back from the dead because I've read through it and found some good ideas and figure some people who've joined the board since 2011 might find some ideas too.
I'm currently working on a 30 point checklist.
I'll summarize the top 13 modifications (in no particular...
I go to a commercial shop for my tire problems. GCR has shown a flexibility that I haven't found with shops that sell to mostly car people. Not guaranteeing anything, nor do I work for them, just throwing out there the name of a nationwide chain that might be of help.
High-Low PTO shifter boot
Anyone got a good solution for a transfer case boot?
I'm afraid my ignorance is great in this area. I've found a number on the web but the ones I've looked at don't list dimensions. Is the size universal and does this apply to the deuce? Has anyone found one they...
