Deuce front bed mount bolts/springs, how tight?

That's a great point, especially considering the vibration in a Deuce. Seems like there's not anything to prevent them from backing off. Mine are just regular nuts. Granted, they didn't move before, but now that I cleaned up the threads they aren't as tight as they used to be.

Deuce front bed mount bolts/springs, how tight?

That's good info, didn't think about bolts actually shearing. I hadn't planned to crank them down... Guess I'll set them back like they were when I took them off.

Deuce front bed mount bolts/springs, how tight?

I'm mounting the bed back on the deuce. I found torque specs for the hard mount bed bolts on a chart here in the forums, but didn't find any info for the front bolts with the springs. When I took them off, I measured the springs and they were compressed to about 6 inches in length. Does anyone...

Deuce short air pack vent line question

Thanks @Floridianson , that makes sense after crawling back under there and looking. I assume someone did the disconnect and sealed the lines. Don't know why they would close off the air pack vent line though 🤔. I have the remote reservoir for the master cylinder, so no vent line there. Sounds...

Deuce short air pack vent line question

It was "working." When I brought the truck home it had soft brakes. I just ripped out all the old brake lines, built new ones, rebuilt the master cylinder and air pack and all the wheel cylinders. That's when I first noticed the line in question. Batteries are out of the truck right now while...

Deuce short air pack vent line question

Am I wrong that having the line pinched off would keep the air pack from working properly? Wondering if I need to rebuild this line completely...

Deuce short air pack vent line question

OK, I've searched the forums and haven't found this answer. If I've missed it, point me in the right direction. If not, here goes... I've never crawled under a Deuce except for mine, so I'm not sure what the proper vent line from the air pack looks like or where it runs. I'm assuming the line...

Where to find this brake fitting?

I gave Big Mike a shout and he pulled a used but good one off a parts truck for me. He did say he might be able to track down some NOS ones, but it might take a bit of time. I'd give him a call and see what he can find.

Where to find this brake fitting?

@Mullaney , yes sir, have the washers. Deuce was missing both of them when I brought it home. @BEASTMASTER , I haven't tried white owl. Just figured out I was missing the thing last night. Had hoped I'd find something local this weekend but to such luck. I'll be making some phone calls on...

Where to find this brake fitting?

Thanks @Guyfang . Looks like the wilwood part I found earlier is not a match. It lists the male threads as the inverted flare, not the female as needed.

Where to find this brake fitting?

Thanks @topo . I'll give them a call on Monday and see what they have.

Where to find this brake fitting?

Thanks @frank8003 . That's the part number and NSN I found as well. Asked local shops about it and got a blank stare. Not a bad idea to message peashooter though. I'll do that. Thanks!

Where to find this brake fitting?

Hmm... @ldmack3, that doesn't sound promising. But, looking at the link @davidb56 posted, this might be the right thing? https://www.wilwood.com/LineKits/LineKitsProd?itemno=220-8574

Where to find this brake fitting?

I just rebuilt my master cylinder and airpack. Apparently I've lost the fitting that screws into the rear of the master cylinder to attach the brake line (not the flare nut, but the fitting the flare nut screws into). I have the nsn: 4730-00-591-5134. Problem is I can't find anything that...

Just dropped by to say in 2021 this write up is still priceless. Kudos for the time & effort. Made my own rebuild easy.

    Deuce soft top part number

Thanks @gringeltaube , Ive never messed with 5 tons & didn't realize the 939 cabs we're that much wider. This cover is NOS, so maybe I need to figure out how to speed up the shrinking of 11 lbs of canvas.

    Deuce soft top part number

I have a canvas top marked with PN 123000649. When I look up that number on Google I see a lot of listings saying it fits an m35 & 5 ton so my assumption was they meant 800 series 5 ton and deuce. But when I put the top on my deuce frame, it's about 4-5 inches wider than the frame. It sags...

Converting back to soft top– questions.

Deuce had a hard top on it when we got it and we're converting back to a soft top. Two problems. First off, someone has cut the c-channel off the windshield frame. I'm assuming there aren't really replacement pieces without replacing the entire outer frame since it looks like it's one piece. My...

Replacing rubber boots on instrument gauges

UPDATE: ordered this PN from a company online, only to be refunded saying they weren't available. Called a couple of other companies, same result. Called Bendix, was informed they do not make this part anymore. Guess I'll keep reaching, but I at least wanted to update this for anyone coming...
