What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

My SECM has the Dodge M887 body. The heavy wisconsin genset was discarded long ago. Since it was engine driven, the box has an exhaust stack and ventilation from the bottom and top. Now there is a steel workbench on slides that comes out but at some point I'll like to put a Bobcat or...

Interesting trans jack design for FMTVs

Please let me know how it works out. I have an NV4500 to put in my CUCV and for as infrequently as I swap trans, I'll likely rent one.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Interesting use of a 1031. Guess if your feet get hot, you could open that door right there where they are. Same with your head for that matter.

Interesting trans jack design for FMTVs

I had the 1000# version from them and it was horrible. With a cast iron SM465 trans for my CUCV it groaned and creaked and was horribly flimsy. Might be fine for an auto trans but it was terrible for the SM My estimate for weight of the SM is 175#.

anyone ever moved a steering tube "up" on an m35a2 dash panel?

Consider the rear cushion on the springer seat. It's a lot thicker than it needs to be. Might try a thinner cushion to see if it helps a bit.

    Wheres all the M35A2's at??

Keep watching. My son bought one here on Steel Soldiers around the beginning of December. Seller offered it for $2500 and is was up for a couple of weeks before he bought it. It's a great runner that was unmolested by civilian hands.

    Nuclear 5 tons.

When I get home I'll post a little blurb from the TM 9-8028.

What do YOU want to know about G-742 history?

    Standing by to stand by.

    all lights but marker lights

The front "Parking" lights only light when the lower left light switch lever is in the down position. There is a nice explanation of what works on the 3 lever light switch respective positions, in the operators TM available in the TM section. You can peruse that from the dry warmth of your...

anyone ever moved a steering tube "up" on an m35a2 dash panel?

Another alternative is the shortened column. I don't recall who was making them but it gained folks a few more inches at the expense of moving the wheel down.

    Nuclear 5 tons.

I was thinking the exact same thing. They were usually mounted on an M139C. The "C" denoted 10.26 gears in the axles.

anyone ever moved a steering tube "up" on an m35a2 dash panel?

Folks considering moving the tube up, are you planning to bend it or unbolt the steering gear and redrill the frame?

    all lights but marker lights

And...and, you might be able to download TM 9-2320-361-20. There is a wiring schematic in the appendix. I can bring those up on my phone and print from there.

    M35A2 Door hinge Screws

I'll dig it up. The bushings came from Toro, I just need to remember which machine.
