Check to make sure your steering box is bolted up to the frame correctly and that there are no cracks in the frame. I would do that before I start ordering parts.
Believe it or not, WALMART has great prices on the Geolanders (beat Tire Rack), check them out. And their mounting and balance package is a pretty good deal too !
Question:
If I was so inclined, where can I purchase a fast idle solenoid and a metering valve? I am thinking of taking the cover off the top on that fuel well and trying to do a light rebuild while I have some idle time on my hands.
Batteries are strong, cables and grounds are clean and tight. It has been doing this since I picked the truck up, I just decided to ask about it now. She turns over without hesitation when it is 15 degrees out and the batteries provided good staying power for "minutes" of cranking during my...
Quick Question. When I start my 09 (stock wiring, 24v system intact) my Gen 2 light goes out immediately, but my Gen 1 light stays on for about 15-20 seconds. Once the truck idles for that time, it goes out. Everything seems to be charging well and she has done this since I brought her home 7...
Unless someone has messed with the wiring, these trucks are fairly simple. I am no wiz mechanic and I have managed to sort through several issues and repairs, all with the help and advise of this site. Keep your head in the game, read the TM's and you'll figure it out.
And, to keep mice...
I have learned to disconnect all four battery terminals, just because I don't like that tingly feeling I get if I don't and I have managed to get that feeling 9 out of ten times while working on her. aua
When you start cleaning grounds, it is always a good idea to make sure the battery (or batteries) are disconnected. I did find that out the hard way (a DUH moment).
Where in CT are you?
I had mine recored. Up here, it cost me about $1000, but I couldn't find a new B850 radiator anywhere for less than $1600. Plus, the original Copper and Brass units do a very good job of cooling.
Initially I did purchased an aluminum replacement off fleabay. It took me a while, but I finally...
It has been in the 20's here in the AM for the last several days, snow on the ground and I have not had an issue starting my 09. Was 15 degrees the other morning and the wind was blowing and the windchill was making it far worse. My 09 turned over with the first turn of the key (thank you...
Curious as to the cost of the 6TM Batteries and the radiator. I had my radiator rebuilt (vs a new purchase). I found one Spector B850, but they wanted $1,790 for it. I paid $1000 to have my old one rebuilt (4 core, copper and brass).
Do yourself a HUGE favor and insulate those terminals on that relay, ASAP. There is some decent current flowing to that relay and you don't want to inadvertently find out how much of a STING it can give you (please don't ask how I know !!).
I need one of those for my 09. Put some screening material over all the window openings and you have an awesome Riot/Anti-Zombie vehicle !!! Those welds are awesome.
