Dave it was 81 degrees today and it is around 69 tonight. Just gorgeous weather man. I've cleaned up the backyard, chopped the wood and the pit is ready for laughter, bullsh8t, bent elbows and the beat of the bongo. Like you said no cork is popping until the parts here.
No sweat on the...
Progress is picking up again!
-York 210 compressor on it's way so I can start generating air for the brakes.
-45 degree flaring dies so I can start picking and replacing all the hard brake lines.
-Half of the wheel cylinders honed out perfectly and ready for new rubbers
-Flex A Lite...
It's a good thing you want to go Hydroboost, nearly impossible hooking up a compressor to that motor due to the serpentine belt. Great pictures!
And for what it's worth, I did all of my work with no shop to speak of. Even worked in the rain and mud a few times.
I was actually considering a black interior myself, flat to match the flat od on the truck. I will be installing air conditioning sooner than later and will have no choice but to go with foil back insulation on the firewall, cab back and floors, topped with black vinyl like all 80's Chevy...
It looks brand new! I am putting a firetruck deuce on my to buy list in the future. What do you have planned for the undercarriage/frame? I think the frame, axles, etc would look sweet in black to match the bumper.
Dave, I could make use of that reel in the not too distant future.
Pics of aforementioned shifter/tower/linkage would be great, I would kind of like to see it anyway since I figured most all of the 70's big Chebby grain haulers used 5 and 2's, not auto's. Very cool!
PM me your phone # by the...
The cab has never looked this good before. Fabbed up a mount yesterday for the GMC shift tower. There's only 2 vehicles in world history that have used this tower. Our trucks, and the big GM futurliners of the 1940's. No way I am doing without it! I worked it out in my head and I will be fabbing...
It's all good Jim, your posts make my day. You know we are just waitin for Cali to slip off, then we get ocean front property and a lot cleaner air if you know what I mean. Why don't you take advantage of your next vacation and get your big Mountie behind down here for some...
I'll...
It was 85 today in the sun. With this kind of weather I am surprised even more snow birds aren't migrating from Canada. It is in the mid 60's and windy as heck tonight too.
We do get a couple sand storms a year. It's like Hidalgo!

If you paint everything pink it will seem less intimating!
I don't know if you remember our backyard fence or not leading to the alley, but my grandfathers property extends 10 feet beyond the fence into the alley (it's 30' wide) so you will have a place to park your Duramax/Camper without...
Yeah I have thought about it a lot. I like the air assist, but I would be very interested in switching to hydroboost in the next couple years..
The beauty of it is, if I gather all the components to do the swap I could retrofit it all into the truck within a couple days. The York compressor...
I don't think there's a darn thing on our 50+ year old trucks that are DOT approved. The deuce uses air over hydraulic, not air brakes. I see no problems especially since she's registered historic.
