True, I'm aware, but I'm only mixing 5 gallons to 45 gallons of oil. It's just enough to thin the oil and with the warm temps, it's all it needs. In the colder months I'll use regular gas or diesel.
Don't blame yeah, better to know than not to know. I'd keep it either way just in case. Could always put some spacers under it so water can't sit there, be able to get debris out with a broom or something similar to it.
The wrecker will take care of what needs to be done unless he doesn't have glad hands to hook up. However, like Beast master said, may not be a bad idea to try it and see if it runs, if so, may be a lot cheaper and easier to get it home.
No, I've never seen any deuces have a tool or storage box in the cargo bed. Doesn't mean it wasn't added while in service, but it's definitely an addition, not a stock or normal thing. I've seen others remove the troop seats or instead of having troop seats, they built the sides up as if it has...
Yup. As Mullaney said, that's my first guess. I got some leaking from axles due to the vents being plugged with mud after I went to a mud bog. I had to wash those vents down a lot and work it with my fingers until it would move freely and the leaking stopped. I had both front hubs leak and my...
When you get a chance, could you do a video on a cold start and then again when the motor is fully warmed up? I just want to see exactly how long it takes to start warm vs cold.
I didn't think to ask, but does this happen when you run straight diesel as well? I know sometimes fuel mixtures can be a little more difficult to start up. I've noticed that myself, straight diesel or a mixture high in jet fuel, my truck will start up with just a tap of the starter button, but...
Sorry to hear about the issue. CbrTodd is correct on what you can do. Hopefully it's just the boots that failed and not the axle seals as well. I've had leaking seals before, it never looked like that, even after driving 1000 miles. Hopefully you can get it back on the road and on it's way home.
Welcome to the site! Truck looks to be in decent shape, but some work on that floor board and it's good to go. That thing definitely screams smiles per gallon!
Glad to see you got it on it way home. You did say "her", so if that's the case, she's gotta have a name 🤷
Also, when you get a chance, we need to make a thorough inspection via tons of pictures 😉
I doubt it's an air leak. It'll either take a lot of cranking to start or it will start up like normal and have a hard stall shortly after. There may be more things that could happen if there was an air leak, but that's been my experience with two different deuces.
You could simply crack the...
I'm glad I beat the heat, an eight hour drive from the Haspin Rally back home in a deuce that was 88°F inside according to my thermometer, lol, and it was 76°F Sunday. 90°F today, that's hot for a fellow Michigander! I think my fat would melt off in that Texas heat!!
Welcome to the site. Hopefully if everything works out, there's talk of moving the Georgia rally to TN, might have the opportunity to enjoy your new to you ride and hang out with some SS members. The TM's for your vehicle will be like your Hanes manual to diagnose, trouble shoot, specs, ect for...
