M1008/M1028 TAIL LIGHT AND TURN SIGNALS ISSUE

You have a voltage meter? That's a valuable tool to have. Have you downloaded the TM's for your truck? The TM's have a trouble shooting section that'll walk you step by step on how to diagnose the issue. They are really helpful. I would also use the search function and see what comes up, there...

The official 2022 Southeast Military Vehicle Rally information thread (the event formerly known as the Georgia Rally). This is gonna' be awesome!

The park looks awesome! Unfortunately for me, I can't make this one. Google machine says it'll be 9hrs and 42mins with a normal car, lol. That's over 13hrs in the deuce and my rear will be turned into Swiss cheese by the time I get there! Plus with a baby coming in July, I'm gonna be a busy guy...

Anyone near Baxter, TN want to look at a deuce?

Kenn, what exactly are you looking for? A2? A3? Other possibilities? Distance? Just asking, if I see anything in particular, I'll snap a photo or share it to ya. I'm in the MI area so if you're in TX, that's quite the haul, so not sure if I see anything local if that would be worth it to ya or...

    Got my new deuce!

Yeah, the cleaning part will suck. I don't like it either, but I haven't had to take it apart yet, luckily.

    Got my new deuce!

If you cant find a cover, could always put a form of permatex or something similar that's not too hard to get off. Mine is missing that cover as well and it has some type of goop on it, don't know what it is, been like that since I got it but so far, it's been holding up, even in a fire, lol.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

My old lady got me some new stickers for the deuce. I was surprised, but I like them. She said she saw them on someone else's truck and figured I'd like it. I do like them, pretty fitting if you ask me 🤷

    Got my new deuce!

The ground looks correct. It's always the one outside of that cap that is usually on there.

    M35a2 knock

Have you tried it? Depends on how bad that bearing is shot. Not that it may not knock when there is no load on it (compression/combustion)

Makes sense why lots of them look rough.

Source for door hinge bolt and window regulator keepers (M35A2) - and seat material

Army surplus warehouse has some seat covers for $65. Not sure if that's the kind you need. eBay (from Saturn surplus) has the style for the bench seat. For the bolts and clips, might have to email some of the surplus suppliers to see if they can get some for you if you can't find any that's listed.

Joined the club with an 18,000lb paperweight this week.

Just read this whole thread. Definitely got a good score and glad to see the truck is treating you well!

    My deuce caught on fire

I did clean my air filter, it didn't look that dirty but I blew it out with compressed air and to my surprise, wasn't that dusty. Taped up my solenoid wires where some of the wire was exposed due to burning, but I didn't replace them. I had 18 ga and 10 ga wire, so I'll wait until I get some 16...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I have to admit, what you said about the M35's winch set up, you're right, it's not as easy to work with as traditional winch set ups on most trucks, but it does require, imo, 2 people, more gear, practice, and muscle, too to do this effectively.

    Stuck ujoints

This is how I always removed the u-joints from driveshafts. I use a small sledge hammer but whatever works.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

You have any snatch blocks? If so, you can run that line to pull backwards, that is if you have three of them...

Anyone near Baxter, TN want to look at a deuce?

When I talked to him, he seemed like a decent guy and honest about what to expect. I'm sure if you were willing to diy or pay extra, he could probably swap parts from one truck to the other to get what you're asking. Otherwise, if you find one that needs replacement parts, he may be a local...

the multi-fuel engine on a Deuce

I have ran 100% gas before, but it's not as efficient as diesel and it is harder on the IP if no oil is added. However, if you do run gas, it's better to run 2 cycle gas basically, add oil to it. I personally prefer to run more wmo than anything as it's free to get and if need be, I'll get some...
