Hummers are military vehicles! In every sense!
My M1165 actually uses the civilian version HMC4 roof as even AMG and GM recognized the two units as interchangeable. You can actually see the civilian hand-hold mounting brackets on the military unit.
So absolutely these vehicles belong HERE in...
Ok
I’d start with Travis at Rubber Duck, hummer parts guy, etc… Diesel rebuild shoppes should have ‘em too.
I’ll see what else I can find out.
Given the truck starts, you might wanna just clean and rebuild. Rebuild kits have bearings and such. You need to clock/mark the impeller blades on...
Bring tools to disconnect the axles to allow pulling the rig onto your rig if the drive train or brakes are frozen. Bring a large bottle of liquid dish detergent to allow you to use a winch to pull the locked tires onto your trailer just in case.
I respect your marriage and commitment to family, but never work on a car while wearing a ring. If it gets crushed your finger can be lost. If it gets snagged your arm can be lost.
Things I’ve learned as a trauma surgeon
PS- great job on the broken bolt
Wow. Let’s do the timewarp. I’m expecting Tim Curry and Meatloaf to make appearances. 1.5 decades old thread brought back to life like a Halloween Zombie.
OP last seen 2012. ElkyRacer last seen 2016.
You need to search as this is a super common topic. It could be anything from blocked one way...
I agree. My experience is that usually they shear off and are loose. A Dremmel and a flathead work really well.
First time I did this was 30 years ago when the support for the Z arm on my manual 1979 trans am sheared off flush on the engine block. Garage wanted to charge 1500 to pull the engine...
Use a Dremmel with a flat round cutting wheel to cut a straight slot across the top of the remaining bolt and twist out with a flathead screwdriver. I have posted about this method before. It works great! If you need more torque on the screwdriver, attack a vice grip to it perpendicular to the...
While I kind of see what you’re saying… these vehicles have a special history unlike Chevys.
While Chevys were converted to military use, Hummers were a military vehicle converted to civilian use, initially by Schwarzenegger. Only analogous thing might be initial Willys Jeeps.
And rather than...
Mechanically, Hummer and Hummer H1 are the descendents of and are identical to the HMMWV, so why not create a sub-forum for those of us who own both Hummer‘s and HMMWV‘s? Why not create a sub forum here on Steel Soldiers dedicated to the unique problems of the civilian Hummers. I am specifically...
Before extraction, I might use some taps and or acid to clean the threads before using penetrating fluid. It might be nice to use plumbers acid to eat out some of that rust prior to trying to use an easy out, in my humble opinion. If you already used penetrating fluid, heat from a blow torch...
Japanese chopsticks are more ornate and more pointed. Korean chopsticks are more often metal to symbolize wealth. China invented the chopstick and they are more square.
I decided to just use a USMC exhaust on my Whipple supercharged Hummer. Gonna install this weekend. I’ll post results. Same 6.5 engine and frame and body BUT civilian electrics.
