    Current situation on SF97s?

GP says they don't know- they get the SF97s from the government. They suspect it is the 'rona...

    Our MTVR camper:

Looks like I may not be able to flip the floor over until this weekend, so I may build the framing for the ceiling tomorrow (using the floor as a template), and then set it aside until we need it. Then I can build the framing for the left and right walls...

    Our MTVR camper:

Now that the good weather is here, we're finally getting into our build. We are building the floor first, upside down, so that we could install the bottom plywood on and epoxy it before flipping it right side up. Every single wood-to-wood junction is screwed together with Loctite PL Premium...

I'm in Clackamas. What year is your M1088? Have you registered and/or insured it yet?

$440 Torklift scissor-folding removable aluminum steps arrived. Six 8"x20" steps. Just need to fab a simple drop bracket to attach the mount to.

    Current situation on SF97s?

Last time I contacted GP, they told me that NO SF97s are being done right now because the government has stopped issuing them during the pandemic. We're about to start work on converting our MTVR into a motor home, and we'd like to be able to title it, register it, insure it, and hit the road...

What have you done to your MTVR today?

The bed is about 5'6" tall, so you should be good for the western U.S., as long as you don't install any solar panels or roof vents.

MTVR key-locking outside door handles installation:

My wife and I each have three keys for the MTVR- the door key, which works both doors, the starter key, and the fuel cap key. The battery switch padlock and the steering lock padlock are combo padlocks, so no keys there... I guess we will each have four keys, when we build our home on the back....

MTVR key-locking outside door handles installation:

They are completely different keys- there is no way for a locksmith to rekey Oshkosh keyed door handles to match a Cole-Hersee keyed starter switch.

For a Newbie to these trucks, Can I get everyone to list what they had to repair/service/replace when they got their truck and over the next 12 months

I don't think that's entirely fair. My MTVR was the very first vehicle I've purchased from GP, and everything worked just fine, apart from one burned-out running light bulb and a leaky air ride seat switch. Total cost to replace those two items was about $15. It sounds like you're talking about...

For a Newbie to these trucks, Can I get everyone to list what they had to repair/service/replace when they got their truck and over the next 12 months

I think almost all of them need batteries. Mine was unusual in that it came with two new batteries. I had to replace the wiper blades, seat air switch, and a few light bulbs. ...but I chose (and paid for) a VERY nice truck, with only about 3,000 miles on it. If you choose to buy something...

What have you done to your MTVR today?

You don't need to pull the seat to replace the seat air switch- it doesn't even take any tools to do it.

MTVR key-locking outside door handles installation:

I was beginning to wonder if I was just wasting my time posting this thread. I have not seen anyone else on Steel Soldiers source and install key-locking door handles on their MTVR, so I thought it would be helpful. GovPlanet has sold over 300 MTVRs, so I thought it would be a popular thing. But...

MTVR key-locking outside door handles installation:

It's nice to be able to ditch the two chains, two locks, and two keys, in exchange for just one key that secures both doors better than all that other stuff ever did anyway...

MTVR key-locking outside door handles installation:

Once the old outside door handles were out, it was easy enough to clean off the old gasket material and install the new ones into their respective holes with the new retainers, washers, and nylock nuts supplied. The inside lock rods appeared to be inverted for shipment, so I flipped them...
