+1 on this. I'd argue that a rebuild with some miles on it should be more desireable than a rebuild that just sat with no miles. My truck basically had no miles after the rebuild, so they assembled hundreds/thousands of parts, did a quick test (less than 10 miles on the road) and then it was...
I think I'm down to my last "missing" parts on my m1123. My truck has the jack storage compartment under the hood, but I'm missing the jack and whatever tools typically go with it.
I found lots of scissor jacks available on ebay, most come in a kit. See pick below. Is this the kit I need...
The side marker lenses were like $6-7 each and the front and rear light lenses were around $21 each I believe. I didn't do much shopping/comparison, just added them to an order I was already placing.
But can't you just turn the e-brake handle adjuster until it's no longer engaging the brakes in the locked position? It's better than nothing, but I personally believe the standard steering wheel cable lock is a better option. I plan to add a fuel shutoff at some point as well.
Kind of boring, but I replaced my serpentine belt. That tensioner is a little tricky to get a tool on with the tight fan clearance, but otherswise a quick easy job.
I also replaced all the lenses on my exterior lights and rivited in a new bucket for one of my side markers. All my lenses had...
I'm pretty sure that ebay store is for macmotors. You can connect with them direct and often get a better deal and save on ebay sales tax (depending on where you live). I just ordered all the fording stuff from them this week to fix the GP hack job. They bundle all the hoses, valve, fittings...
I assume the valspar mentioned earlier is a proper automotive finish (multi-stage with clear coat, 2 part with hardener), not typical to what most folks are painting military vehicles with. I've only done the spray cans from rapco, but assume their bulk paint is just basic one part enamel...
Yep, I think all those trucks had potentially serious issues, but could still make a lot of sense for someone with the ability to fix them. With these "broken" trucks, a single one is certainly a crap shoot, but they aren't that much more than non-running NA trucks like the 1123's. I actually...
Looking a few of the auctions yesterday, there were some turbo trucks going for around $10k that were in pretty good condition and complete, but had mechanical issues that could be serious. Even if you budgeted $5k to sort out powertrain issues, those turbo trucks look pretty attractive...
Agree that it's crazy $, but it looks good and it's a 2019 rebuild. I've seen several of these m1123 2019 4dr rebuilds go for stupid $'s. When I was bidding on my m1123, I saw a tan 2019 rebuild go for mid/high 30's.
Not to defend the pricing, but 2019 rebuild trucks would have some...
The half shaft boots are are good call out. They seem to be in good shape, but I'll add them to my list to look into. I'm guessing it's not too much $, but a pain in the butt to remove/install new boots. When a half shaft boot fails, my hope is that you could still drive 20+ miles home...
Not really. When you put the batteries in series, the voltage doubles, but the amps do not. That's a big advantage of 24v compared to 12v, your wiring/switches don't have to be rated as high. The amps required to run a 24v component is typically half of a similar component running on 12v...
Nobody is getting rich selling hmmwv parts to the civilian market. The market is tiny, so anything that requires significant design, tooling, or up front investment is unattractive. I've seen a few hmmwv parts with excessive price points, but most of the normal automotive parts are pretty...
If you like the blacked out look, paint the studs and lugs flat black and you can touch up at will. If you like the raw silver/galvanized look, they should do fine unpainted. Particularly if you have newish studs that still have most of their zinc. I bought a set of 5 used 24 bolt wheels that...
I'm not sure if mine wasn't in yermo all that time or not, most of my rubber stuff "appears" pretty good. The tires were shot and I had cracking on my fuel injection return lines, but no cracking on electrical connectors and the fuel and coolant hoses look and feel pretty good. When I...
I've fixed what was broken and I've changed most fluids/filters and maintenance stuff. I've installed new tires and rebuilt the rims with fresh o-rings and valve stems. My M1123 appears to have been sitting unused since a refurb in 2009, so there is some aging and sun damage but not wear from...
I think "replacement" is mainly highlighting that it's just the top and not a 4 man top kit (doors, and everything needed to do the conversion). They do offer some hardware as a $700 add-on, So $1,100 for the top and $1,800 for top and hardware (but still no doors). That price seems reasonable...
I just did a quick web search on mechanical 6.5 pumps (not hmmwv) and the only vendor that popped up with $400 for a rebuild is the DCP pump that you are considering. I'm not saying there aren't quality rebuilds out there at that price, but I'd run away from DCP based on what I've seen. In my...
