I think we are blurring the lines between "title" and "registration". I currently have a car with antique registration and the title is the same as my modern "normal" vehicles. So, the hmmwv title won't be different regardless of whether it's registered as normal or as a former military...
Yeah, it's a good point. I wanted to think that the military registration would work like the antique registration (it's really easy to flip back and forth) because the process, forms, and rules are so similar. The weird military VIN/Serial number thing might throw a wrench in the mix.
Appreciate the feedback. I'm not sure why the hagerty quote was so high. They asked me about recent claims and we recently claimed a windsheild replacement, but I can't imaging that makes a big difference. Other that that, perfect credit and drivers records and we're in our 50's. Maybe I'm...
That makes sense. I'm talking to them about moving one of my other progressive vehicles over and it makes it look a lot better. Is you hagarty policy based on stated value full coverage? If so, you mind me asking what value you used? I was debating what number to give them, the $30k value I...
Thanks for all the info. I am currently planning to register it as a former military vehicle, which I think throws the 10.3K limit out the window and also removes the annual inspection requirement. It's similar to an antique vehicle registration that officially limits use to parades and...
good info. It looks like texas has a 30 day temp plate for $25, I'm going to check it out. I have not called haggarty yet, but I was going to check them out and also see if my current insurance provider (progressive) would cover it. Is the $250/yr full coverage on a single car policy or is it...
Interesting. I still want to check all my spindles before driving on the open road, but that's a good option. I guess it's a license plate, but not titled yet and isn't useful for titling in your state? You will still use the SF97 to get title in your state? I like to think I'll have my SF97...
I used a 5 gallon bucket to stabilize my hand as the wheel rotated with all 4 wheels off the ground and the truck in gear. I know, not exactly the most precise runout setup, but I'm not convinceed any of this is making a significant difference or worth obsessing over. Having all wheels off the...
Maybe, but the IROAN plates all show mileage at the time of IROAN. Unless they are replacing the odometer just prior to IROAN for some reason, I'd assume that mileage on the IROAN plate is reflective of the odometer before they replaced the engine or did any other IROAN work. I'm not sayig...
Did you get your sf97 or can you get that temp plate with just the invoice? I just assumed mine can’t be on the road until I have it titled, but i have not really looked into it.
I got them from Mac Motors. They were running a special on them for $159, had to wait a while on backorder
I was going to try polishing the lenses, but some of them look like there are micro-cracks that run pretty deep
Trucklite led headlights. Maybe the best 5 minute upgrade possibly. Visibility is so much better compared to the originals. All the lenses on my other lights are pretty sun damaged. I might just replace the lenses if I can find them, but I'm debating going full LED.
I marked the low spot (the spot nearest the center). There is plenty of room to mark it while spinning, I’m not sure what you are saying with the suspension.
Another marine truck here that showed 22 miles at Iroan and 32 miles when I got it. Many aspects of the truck appear new (undercarriage, pedals, fasteners, etc.), but the truck had obviously been transported multiple times with paint wear on the shackles and scuffed up paint and dings in...
+1. That geared fan is getting into Ferrari parts pricing territory. Many vehicles fall into the "nothing more expensive than a cheap x" situation. There are lots of really nice cars out there that aren't worth fixing if they have 1 or 2 expensive things wrong with them.
Mine cleared about a month ago and took right at 5 months starting in September. I've seen a couple other folks post similar waits who bought about the same time. With all the holidays in there, I'm guessing that added a month or so. Once we got to Thanksgiving and it wasn't done, I knew...
I assume you are talking about the bumper? If so, yes, that's how the bumper is constructed, just can't see it in the pic. I'm pretty sure the nuts are not correct because my OEM nuts from my old shackles on my truck worked perfect. It's not a bumper thickness issue unless there are supposed...
A couple updates on that SECO bracket kit -
I noticed that the 2 outer frame brackets that support the body are different. The description from SECO actually called this out, but I misunderstood the following description:
" 1 LH Bracket Brace (early style bracket with hole cut out to allow...
