Legislative efforts have been suspended while the gov't is out of session for the pandemic. This is pretty much the status of all MV legislative efforts, nationwide.
I managed to temporarily isolate several rattles in my cab so that I could isolate another loud, random noise that has been concerning me.
I took a drive with all the windows down and the rear cab window open.
Turns out the noise is the cargo cover randomly "whapping" in the wind when I drive...
HMMWV's don't go fast, but they do go anywhere. For some reason, people insist that they do 80mph.
If we drive ours on the highway, we do 50-55 in the right lane and people can just suck it up and go around. We take paralleling secondary roads with lower speed limits wherever possible.
Don't...
I was kind of skeptical and nervous at first. Once I did some maintenance and learned more about the vehicle, it wasn't as intimidating. My wife and I really enjoy it.
Can you expand on this popcorn noise? Is it a common trait of the engine or is it an indicator that something is failing? It has something to do with the cylinder heads?
I took my M813 out for an "exercise run" this week.
I've been driving my wife's HMMWV too much and it's made me soft. The transition to all the pops, bangs and rattles and the loud NHC 250 was jarring. The HMMWV is positively smooth in comparison.
Seriously, I have got to find a way to...
Mine might be going faulty. My fan failed to come on yesterday and the gauge indicated 235F. Normally it comes on at 220F just as it should. Out of caution, I unplugged the cadillac valve and forced the fan to run until the temperature indicated 200F.
Being as the switch is near the top of...
Ha, you guys are wise. I found the large hose on the bottom of the coolant expansion tank was loose. The hose was wet on the underside.
None of the hoses are dry or cracked but some seem kind of spongy so I'll look into replacing them.
I've snugged up all sorts of Class 1 and 2 drips on this HMMWV since I bought it but I've got one last drip that I can't seem to stop.
There is a drip behind the passenger wheel, inboard of the frame rail. (at least, that's where the coolant drips off and hits the ground) The weirdest thing is...
@Brutacus I'm working on an M813. Sorry, so many names and photos. I forgot you were the one that custom welded a wrench. So, you used the custom wrench for the uppers and you're using a full slug wrench for other spots.
@Brutacus Did you shave down your slug wrench the way @74M35A2 did to make it fit? Your photo shows it at full strength.
Were you able to get it full seated on the nuts near the spring pack?
