Thank You very much for the info and photos DeucesWild!
After I first posted my question to you, I went out to look at my air-pack to see if I could locate it from your first photo.
Well... I found it... And I went to remove mine to as I was going to test it on the bench and see if it was...
Well that is partially true. The air system actually assists your brakes, but does not run them entirely. From what I have read (as I have never had it happen to me, and hope I never do) If you do loose your air pressure, you still have brakes, but you will have to "stand up on the pedal" to...
Hey DeucesWild, Didn't see your other thread, and I don't have an answer for you, but glad to hear your lights work now [thumbzup]
Don't mean to highjack your thread or anything, Just got a quick question. I am looking for location of the brake light switch. Looking at your photos, is that your...
That's true Phil, I think I'm going to go ahead and try it. I don't see any reason that it wouldn't work, as they operate the exact same way (when pressure is applied, contacts close). And like you said, worst case, I got an extra brake light switch.
I'll order it today, probably won't get it...
I know this is an older thread, but just wanted to say Thanks a bunch dm22630 for this great "How To" Thread! [thumbzup]
This is an easy fix to leaking hoses, and it is an easy "field repair" too!
I used your idea, and replaced both of my leaking rubber air hoses (Front Axle Air Shift Switch &...
Just wanted to post an update.
Both Hose Replacements are complete, and I can't hear any more leaks!
As a matter of fact, after installations was complete, and got the air pressure up to 120 psi, ran the truck for a bit, then turned it off.
After turning the truck engine off, I...
Hi SteelandCanvas!
Yes I have taken apart the valve assembly and cleaned everything. Connected the pressure switch up my air-compressor and used voltage tester to test for continuity "with pressure" and "no pressure" but didn't get anything either way.
The electrical pressure switch does...
Replacing Front Axle Air Pressure Switch
Hey All,
I'm having a problem with my front axle light on the dash not working.
I tried my front axle engagement switch today, and the light did not come on. So I turned the engine off, and I could hear it engage when I moved the lever. But the light...
DOT Plastic tubing should work just fine. And like j.g. said, if you're worried about something rubbing, just slip some rubber gas line, or heater hose, over that specific spot and you're good to go.
In my case, I'm just replacing hose that is under the dash, which are no longer than 18...
Good Point SteelandCanvas, I think I read about that in a thread you posted to somewhere on here, when I was first re-searching about the air hoses.
But in my case, it was the air-hose after all. I could actually feel the air coming from around the crimped fitting.
Although my air shift...
Yep, the hose is only about 18" inches long. It just goes from the front axle air shift switch up to the block on the firewall. Doesn't have to move or flex, it just sits there.
Speaking of which, I just replaced it today, and ended up using barbed fittings (1/4" inch thread to 1/4" barb), a...
Yeah my Dad was telling me that he used to do this for his shop hoses when they would break. But that is a good point about the vibration they would have to sustain in a deuce.
Thanks!
Hi All, I've been searching for info on replacing the rubber air hose that goes to my front axle air shift switch. It started leaking the other day, and can now be heard while the truck is running. Usually drains the tanks in about 15 min after turning off the engine.
Well I read here on SS...
Ok, I was at another hardware store today, picking up other things for the house. While I was there, I thought I would look through their plumbing stuff and see if maybe they carried something that would work. So I browsed over to that section, and they had a few things that seemed close. So I...
Yep, thats the place where I downloaded the software to make the diagram in the Photo. But they wanted a whole bunch of $$ for just a 1 piece order. They are more geared toward mass production orders, or at least orders of 20+ pieces.
Thanks for the reply though!
