I don't recommend the new electronic switch unless you are converting ALL of your lighting to LED as the incondesent lighting draws a lot more current than the LEDs do and people have had the electronic switches burn/catch fire when operating incondesent lighting. If you have another switch...
The M998 is NOT rated to pull a loaded car hauler. If it is equipped to tow it is only rated to pull 3500 lbs max. And the 6.2 is only 150hp which would be very weak at doing that also. You may wish to reconsider what your intentions are in referance to the M998.
Befor you chop up an M105 you may consider an M103A3 trailer chassis. No bed to mess with and would probably be easy to lengthen and still have your air over hydraulic brakes, and rear stabilizer jack. I have an unused NOS one here in Utah it this interests you.
Thought this may interest some of you. This is a really good use for a HET M1070.

Welcome. I highly recommend you go to the TM section and start by reading the operators manual known as the -10 and then you may start reading all the other TMs for the M939 series of truck. Enjoy the madness.
You may try to gey a hold of Marathon. I know they are still around as the truck fleet I work on has a few F450s with Marathon generators in them, but they are driven by Hyundia 4 cylunder gas engines.
I understand the hazards of being near the winch in the case of a cable break. But have any of you ever noticed the control locations in reference to the winch location on light duty tow trucks? I operate an F350 with boom/sling style bed and the controls are right at the rear corners(both...
Someone left a running deuce engine with turbo (mine is NA) in my yard and I'm considering commandeering it and doing a swap
Nobody ever leaves anything in my yard, except my dogs and they leave a lot of "THINGS" in my yard.
Not sure on the M1078, but on the M939 series the O/S lite will come on in Highway if you excede 55 mph. I would suspect a bad speed sensor or a short in the sensor wiring.
Any good alignment shop should be able to do an alignment on it. If they wonder about specs just align it to H1 specs as the suspension is pretty much the same and that would give it a setup for street driving to not wear the tires.
You need to put a spot on your website to pay by credit card and increase the CC amount to $10K like GL. I spent 45 minute on the phone to pay a $205.02 bill on a trailer I won. Our time is worth something too.
