    Oil leak

Wait a bit and someone will chime in that’s dealt with that issue already. I personally have never tackled that particular issue before.

    Front pintle hook on M1008

Exactly the info I’m looking for. Can you post pictures of the backing you used? Plan is to plasma cut two pieces of 1/4” steel roughly the size of a license plate. One for front side of bumper and one for the back side. The bumper steel itself will be sandwiched between the two plates...

    Front pintle hook on M1008

I have a shop, lift, welder and stock steel and can fabric something much more involved IF I have to. Would like to see what other guys have done when they attached the Pintle directly to bumper. Can I use just a simple backing plate and call it good or ?? Want to know what has worked for...

    Front pintle hook on M1008

Would prefer not to go that route. It will only be used to park trailers and move around my NF2D light tower. The NF2D is heavy and would like to see the backing plates used so I don’t bend bumper.

m1028 duallies -what were they used for

Well everyone on this site loves pictures. A request has been made for a picture of your truck, not just the bumper. It doesn’t have to be for sale to post a picture of it. Guys like to see the truck your asking questions about.

Revival of old thread. Want to install Pintle on the front bumper on my M1008A1. Any issues with this setup? What backing is recommended? Pics would be great, including the backing plates, etc.. I did find two pictures from another members cucv. I know there are front mount 2” receiver...

m1028 duallies -what were they used for

Sounds like your saying that’s the one to me. The info that someone told you that was it would have been helpful. Too bad they didn’t have up close pics showing proof it’s your truck. That would be really cool.

m1028 duallies -what were they used for

That is a pic of several CUCVs with other vehicles. It’s impossible to determine if one of those is the one you own.

m1028 duallies -what were they used for

You will be lucky to know the last unit the truck was assigned to if you can read the bumper numbers. Some guys were very lucky and had some paperwork inside the truck when they recovered it. Usually some maintenance records. You have extremely rare examples where a truck sat in a cave it’s...

m1028 duallies -what were they used for

A lot. Everything from Air Traffic Control to MPs to Artillery to ??? You would need a time machine to know them all. That’s why rarely do you see two shelters the same. Every unit had their own special requirements for them.

    Some annoying starting issue

Recommend you Replace all the cables like mentioned. I installed a new battery lug connector on one of mine a while back. When I cut back the almost pristine insulation several inches, the wires underneath had corrosion on them. That affects the current flow. Age is hard on wiring. It...

Just go to rockauto.com and do a search for the harmonic balancer. 1984 Chevrolet K30 Acdelco still makes that balancer. Mine was marked “Made in USA”. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/chevrolet,1984,k30+pickup,6.2l+379cid+v8+diesel,1053021,engine,harmonic+balancer,5512

Add Trans Temp Gauge. Where to Locate Sender?

I installed mine in the pressure port. Works great. It probably isn’t as accurate as one installed inline a cooling line would be, but it’s close enough. Oil pan temps are almost spot on with gauge, using a infrared temp gun. Over three years now and no issues.
