@Dirt71 - I believe this is my new favorite thread!
So, I’m curious, who are the other 10 ton owners?
(I’m not really asking Dirt71 to drop names, but more so inviting others to post!)
I’m expecting up to a foot of rain from Tropical Storm Beta, but fortunately I shouldn’t get much wind. The soft top on the water truck leaks. The seam above the windshield gave out. Hopefully this will keep TS Beta out >>>
@Dasgog - If you haven’t seen them yet, these threads may be helpful. They don’t address your locking hub question, but the are good resources nonetheless.
Front axle seals and boots stepXstep
Well, here it goes. Lot's of pictures to post and lot's of info to remember while I type it up...
I see three options:
1) Oily grease. NAPA bearing grease has done that to me.
2) Gear oil - seal is bad.
3) Break fluid. A bad wheel cylinder has done that to me a couple of times.
If you are going to take the time to dig into it, replace everything. The parts are cheap enough.
Here are some...
@lighten, Sir, that is an awesome build!
What was your motivation? Are you in the recovery business, do you own the farm equipment that keeps getting stuck, or did you build this simply because you could?
The o-rings that came with the NAPA filters did not work for me. I purchased separate o-rings from NAPA (part numbers 5070 and 5131) as indicated in the Deuce parts quick reference spreadsheet. If you haven't seen that spreadsheet, you can check it out here...
