Hi CUCVRUS, WOW!! So much dirt coming out of that tube!!! Mine is quite clean compared to that, but since I need to dismantle the diff all the way, I will also steam clean the hollow tube and use a rust-conversion paint on the inner tubes as well. Your end-result is very nice tough! Great...

    cucv lift kits

Hi Bajaman, Your conversion reads very interesting, but at this point I am not yet familiar enough with the possibilities, do's and don't's when it comes to lift kits, larger wheels etc... If I read your message correctly, the 4" lift kit you installed onto your M1009 and which fit like a...

Hello all, Still new and discovering lots of things about my 1985 M1009. Can anyone tell me what the maximum allowed drive shaft angles are to avoid unnecessary strain or damage to any of the driveline components? How can I lower, if necessary my Transfer Case using the original spacers? Are...

Best method to remove the Steering Knuckle Arm from the Knuckle?

Thanks CUCVRUS, I'll keep that in mind. As mentioned, did not have to go hard to remove the old ball joints and still need to clean the knuckle up before I can install the new ball joints, which I will wisely press in. Thanks, Jake

Best method to remove the Steering Knuckle Arm from the Knuckle?

Hi, Yes you ar correcct, it is not a must to remove the steering arm from the knuckle to replace the upper and lower ball joints. It does make it easier however, as then I can use my hydraulic press... which I did not need nor use to remove the old ball joints as they came out surprisingly easy...

Best method to remove the Steering Knuckle Arm from the Knuckle?

Good morning, Used some de-rust oil and a 5LBS hammer... eventually the cones came loose one after the other and with some more hitting hard the arm came off as well. No real damage except for some hammering bruzes on the steering arm, but that thing is made to handle a lot more. Need to clean...

Best method to remove the Steering Knuckle Arm from the Knuckle?

Hi, Am in the phase of fixing mechanical issues on my M1009. Need to replace the Upper and Lower Ball Joints and thus also removed the 3 nuts holding the Steering Knuckle Arm to the Knuckle. But the Steering Knuckle Arm is still rock solid attached to the Knuckle, despite beating and prying...

Hi Marcus, Thank you for your reply. The TMs are a great help in restoring my M1009. This particular CUCV was in fact "stationed" in Belgium on one of our Air Force airfields and where we had a USAF detachment for decades (not sure if they are still there now)... but for sure it is no longer...

Who knows a replacement transistor Q2 for GP module 12034592

Hi 1St Sarge, On my GP Module Z4 is fried ass well. I have noticed my GP circuit has been changed to 12V. The GP circuit is connected directly to 12V and the 2 resistors behind the air filer are completely missing; only the bracket remains. Can I also use the same diode 1N4749A or should I use...
