Looking for replacement bearing and seal for Water Pump 12557071.

Yep, you're right, the bearing seals need some sort of venting hole as well. Making a 1/16" hole in the seal should be ok for the old grease/overflow to be evacuated. Ideally on both sides, but this is only possible when the bearing is not yet installed. Not too worried about a little grease...

Looking for replacement bearing and seal for Water Pump 12557071.

Thanks! But rest assured... although I do not have the right papers to state I am a Yank, I have always felt like one, always been on your side in any discussion... actually got myself into trouble and even fights when I was very young because of my pro-US-attitude... Was fortunate enough to...

Looking for replacement bearing and seal for Water Pump 12557071.

...comment to self... Actually, to keep things simple... it seems to me that the cause of the worn out bearings in effect is... lack of lubrication... the "greased for life" bearings keep the grease inside the bearing housing alright, but the bearing itself eventually runs dry, as the grease...

Looking for replacement bearing and seal for Water Pump 12557071.

Thank you! Best info I got to date!! It seems to me that the HMMWV waterpump is a weak spot, or am I wrong? Taken apart with puller and 6T press and there are 2 bearings. The roller ball bearing is at the impeller side with 6 balls, held in a plastic cage, which runs in a long hardened outer...

Looking for replacement bearing and seal for Water Pump 12557071.

Hello, And thank you for your good advice. I will research using the full list of part numbers and exchange numbers. Until now I only had the casting number 12557071, but I guess that is not correct to search for replacement parts. Thank you again!! Jake

Looking for replacement bearing and seal for Water Pump 12557071.

Hello, I realize I am not in my usual forum, so my apology for intruding, but have a question for HMMWV users. Anyone know a good value source for replacement bearing WR17297 and for the seal assembly of these water pumps? Need to replace a few run out bearings; sorry not in a position to...

has anyone taken injectors apart on this forum?

Hi Cruzer, Yes, I have a diesel injector tester and will be checking spray patterns and leak testing each one. Cheers, Jake

Adding two-stroke oil for lubricity - this study says NO.

Yes, absolutely today's diesel is still greasy, don't get me wrong, it will cause oil stains when spilled. But it does not feel the same as it used to. E.g. I remember coating parts in diesel fuel to store them for extended periods and prevent corrosion. They would stay sticky and collect...

Adding two-stroke oil for lubricity - this study says NO.

I realize this is already a somewhat older posting, but the subject remains a concern even today for many/some here I imagine. I have been adding 2-stroke oil to my diesel fuel for more than 10 years now. The first vehicle I used this in was a 2001 BMW 520d, equipped with an...

has anyone taken injectors apart on this forum?

Sorry, just catching up now. The leak off tubes are press fitted in these Bosch injectors. You can gently try to tap it back in using a brass driver and going very carefully. What is the torque to tighten the two halves of the injector housing? 90FtLbs? Jake

    CUCV Throttle Vacuum Valve Adjustment

Thanks Warthog! A simple and great solution to replace an otherwise overpriced tool which one may possibly need but once in a lifetime!! For those who want to build their own special tool J-33043, I found that a carpenter's ruler, you know the folding type, is just about 0.646" or 16,4mm wide...

    TH400 Transmission Shifts points

Hi, Did you finally get better results with the new modulator? When I purchased my M1009, the vacuum line from the vacuum pump to the vacuum control valve on the IP was not even present. The ATF smelled burnt... I assume this is related to the high RPM shifting that was going on? I have now...

DIY Tool J-33043 Valve Gage Block

Hi, Anyone have the dimensions how to make your own J-33043? Tool absolutely not available across the pond. Just need it to check/adjust the Transmission Vacuum Valve bolted to the side of the DB2 Injection Pump. Thanks, Jake

    Home Transmission Flush?

Hello, I realize this an old thread, from 2012 and do not intend to re-open the flush or filter debate, but out of curiosity, a pan drop with filter change requires about 4Qt fresh ATF to be added to the deep pan as found on our CUCV, right!? How much ATF would it take to fill a completely...

    IP cSt 1.2 specification

Hi again, Actually I envy you, enjoying your CUCV for over 10 years already... I am merely in the phase of restoring my 1985 M1009, which I bought early 2019... want to make that my fun everyday driver and take it to events and alike... My Injection Pump is a DB2 829-4879, so also good for...
