Much appreciated, thank you.
Looking forward to your input.
For now I'll mark in pencil: Zener diode 24V, ... Watt? 1.3Watt, 5Watt, or will this kill my Controller Card ?
Thanks,
Jake
Hello AntennaClimber,
Tank you for your advice. The black .8 wire indeed has nothing to do with the GP circuit; it goes straight into the diagnostic connector under the dash.
I have ordered a new GP Controller Card from HillBillyWizard but it will only be in my hands by March-April 21; also...
Hi AntennaClimber,
Brilliant!!
Thank you.
Immediately ordered a replacement sensor as mine flashes a number for less then half a second when I first connect my Ohm meter, value anywhere from 150 to 900 Ohm and then just reads "1" at all times on the multimeter, which is an open circuit, right...
Hi Warthog,
Have a question about this line here: " Yellow wire #151b - This is the wire for the temperature sensor on the block. With the key OFF, check for ~800 ohm with the engine cold. When the engine is hot, the resistance will increase and keep the circuit open, not allowing the...
Hi Antennaclimber,
Had a look at the wiring diagram here and compared with the actual wiring in my M1009.
Please see attached picture, Green arrow and circle near the bottom.
May I ask you to have an expert look at that connection?
Could it be that GM by mistake crossed the wires in the green...
To ALL,
Apology for approaching you through this venue, but please allow me to say:
Hope you and your family have been able to get together this year and are enjoying a warm and healthy Thanksgiving feast !
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving from across the Atlantic!!
And may we all have many...
Hi,
Been running my M1009 for over an hour a few days ago, as I wanted to flush and clean the cooling system from any rust, crud and dirt build-up.
Then drained the radiator and let it cool down. Re-filled and wanted to start again to flush with plain water now, but no success... doesn't start...
Progress report 1:
Tried drilling this morning... no joy... hardly scratched the clamped down race in a drill press with Cobalt bit.
So back to researching and learning... and of course there is an easy and safe way to drill a hole in hardened steel ...
I'll try this other method first and...
Hi,
No worries there.
The water pump has a single outer race, which holds a ball bearing on the impeller side and a needle bearing on the pulley side.
This outer race is long; 2" 1/8 and the two bearings run on the outer edges, so there is plenty of room and open space between the actual...
Hello,
And thank you for this valuable link!
I sent these guys an inquiry for pricing of bearings, seals and impellers.
Once I have all parts, I will start rebuilding the 4 HMMWV 6.5 L Diesel water pumps I have here:
First I need to clean, inspect, sandblast and inspect for cracks or defects...
Last posting two and a half years ago on this topic.
Sorry for my late arrival/read-up...
Curious to hear if any results from bypass system by now have been evaluated and feed back can be given?
Not that I have overheating issues, as I am not even driving my M1009 yet but still rebuilding...
Nathan,
Once again... an old posting... I am so much behind with everything... I guess I'll need to live another 100 years at least to get all I want done!!
I soldered in a variable resistor which I had laying around here to replace the faulty solid resistor on the back of the voltmeter.
After...
Hi Nathus,
Understand your frustration and concerns, been there ... unfortunately some of the previous owners of our CUCVs seem to have abused them without any regard... but that cannot be changed, so we need to fix things as good as possible, without taking the fun out of it nor going...
Hi CucvRus,
Thank you for your help, sincerely very much appreciated!!
I guess I may have initially over reacted since I just could not find any part number for the brush end shaft bushing which is alarming, as chances are less then nihil to find non-metric bushings in Europe...
But thanks to...
On another note, how do I measure and determine the correct distance between flex plate and starter gear?
Or, how do I know when I have to use (a) shim(s) and what thickness?
I have read that I should press a 1/8" drill bit on the starter housing and starter shaft and this should then just rub...
Hi CucvRus,
Thank you so much, that is superb!
I guess I may have over reacted a bit as I assumed finding these typical non-metric parts would be an issue in the EU.
However, thanks to the numbers and references given by Hasdrubal I was able to cross ref and finally found this:
This company...
Hi,
Been a while since you posted this, I realize very well.
Just been working on my starter as well.
It was dead when I bought my M1009.
The windings attached to the body had overheated and shorted out.
So replaced that with new coils.
But the starter still runs much too slow!!
So I replaced...
Addition to my previous posting: The following information was also provided with the same email from Bosch Classics and which is, come to think of it, all be it obvious, nevertheless relevant to all of us here:
" Beachten Sie bitte, dass neue Düsen auf einem Düsenprüfgerät eingestellt werden...
Thank you Rutjes,
Good to know and confusing at the same time... my 1985 M1009 has Injector Body Bosch 0430211058 with Nozzle tip 0SD248...
Not sure what to think about that...
Also, I started removing my injectors one by one and giving them a thorough inspection and cleaning.
The first two I...
