I'm not sure if the TC (1138) of the 818 can handle backing in low, but with 16.00 it will matter.
what do you mean? Why wouldnt a transfer case be able to do reverse?
Im putting detroit lockers in both back axles anyway, its gonna slip in turns in 6 wheel drive. Not really a problem off road, on road i wont be in 6 wheel drive.
The reason im doing this is because ill be living in the wilderness of Alaska. The roads just end. With that being said im aware that...
Im gonna fab a new fuel tank, i was thinking a sleeved drive shaft with splines. Im trying to be able to crest much better. Ofcourse these trucks hate hills but im gonna run 53" tires and maybe a 6bt cummins. Im extending the cab into an suv like the russian Trekol or Shaman. If any one has pics...
M54a2 this is to decrease the space in between the front and rear tires for use in extreme off road conditions. This truck will be my life line in Alaska.
I was looking into locking hubs for a 5 ton and someone said it will only work with the air actuated m939 but you could upgrade the m39 and m809 to mwo and it would work.
All great input guys, ive been watching this truck for 8 months. Im dead set on it, power, load, loudness, none of those things are a factor for me. Im gonna slap some 53s on and crawl around the desert. Im sand blasting it and coating it in poly-urea, gonna put some detroit lockers in the back...
Im about to pull the trigger on a M52A2 with winch.
Only problem is, I want to buy ALL the 5 ton series.
So tell me which one you got, when, why and are you satisfied? I want to hear all about your grocery getters.
