As bad as the flywheel in the video was, I bet a feeler gauge under the flex plate ring gear would also show up the problem if you have a flat surface and did not have an extra flex plate. Good video.

From watching your video it looks like a warped flex plate is your problem. To my eye it appears to show a distinct wobble. You would think that the space between the flex plate and the starter would have a little bit more clearance . I assume the new starter is the same as the old. Bummer about...

You don't need to remove the bed. Just get another guy and slide the bed back about 16'' inches. You will need some 4''x4'' to place under the bed on the frame in the rear as you slide the bed back. You will know what to do as you begin to slide the bed back by watching underneath as you move...

Give it a shot and paint it up. Hope it helps. If it was mine it would be one and done, no paint. I don't think the originals had paint. I'm sure it would out last me without paint. Your project is coming along good, keep it up, looking forward to your progress.
