Rumor is that the pick up tubes in the tanks fail also. My wrecker was running great and one day it quit. Couldn't get fuel up the the pump. Transfered the fuel to the other tank and fired right up. I haven't pulled the other tank apart yet but suspect the pick up tube.
So it looks as if the LDS piston I have is heavier than the LDT piston that we are trying to replace. The original LDT piston weighs 6.885 pounds with the wrist pin without the top ring (top ring was gone ). The new LDS piston weighs 7.165 pounds with the wrist pin and all of the rings and 7.103...
Anything much below 40 and they require ether. They are just low compression engines. You can check your exhaust while you are cranking it to see if you get white smoke, which means you have fuel. Nature of the beasts.
